Workers Comp Specialist (Safety)

Clark Pacific is seeking an organized, attention to detail and experienced WC, RTW, and Administrative Coordinator to support the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Department companywide. 

Candidates must be able to demonstrate they can successfully work and excel in a fast-paced and continually changing manufacturing and construction environment.   

The right candidate must: 

  • Demonstrate high efficiency to detail and possess strong organizational and communication skills while excelling in a collaborative and team environment.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of California Workers’ Compensation regulations and handling, experience modification, and return-to-work best practices.
  • Successfully demonstrate advanced Microsoft office skills including Excel and data/chart experience.   

Summary of Position:
Under the general supervision of the EHS Director, handles all functions of WC new and existing claims, RTW program and administrative support within the EHS Department. This position requires experience in facilitating return-to-work services for employees with industrial-related injuries and illnesses and coordinating re-evaluation efforts to restore employees working capacity promptly. 

Performance Expectations: 

  • Review newly reported WC Claims for proper coverage, including verification of active employees and former employees.
  • Access payroll platforms to confirm eligibility status of worksite employees and prepare wage statements.
  • Use claims systems for reporting and claims inquiries.
  • Liaison with clients, insurance carriers, third-party administrators and various vendors.
  • Prepare loss runs and data analysis.
  • Assist clients and internal service teams to resolve specific insurance questions.
  • Organize and track related WC and EHS Department documentation including training documents/certifications, and environmental permits and programs.
  • Attend regularly schedule WC claim reviews.
  • Develop, track and maintain a return to work programs.
  • Maintain OSHA logs companywide.
  • Administrator for Safety Incident Reporting Tracker (SIRT) and Compliance Audit Modules including reports and maintaining system information.  
  • Create new employee security badges, maintain alarm codes, keep-up-to-date security system software and follow-up on variances.
  • Provide administrative support for EHS Department staff including organizing events, meetings, documentation, tracking awards and corrective actions, assisting in pre-qualification process, and safety shoe and prescription safety glass programs. 
  • Oversee the EHS Department’s policies and procedures process including the development, vetting, distribution and annual review.  
  • Other projects and responsibilities, as deemed appropriate.

  • Associate’s Degree in Business Administration or related field OR 5+ years experience in California WC and administrative role.
  • Construction or Manufacturing experience preferred. 
  • Experience with insurance filings/compliance reporting.

  • Minimal travel required
  • Work in a clean, pleasant, and comfortable office setting
  • Able to walk into the production area, where construction, large machinery may be present, walk in and around uneven surfaces.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to sit and use hands to operate telephone, type and operate computer and mouse. The employee frequently is required to talk, hear, and bend and twist the neck. The employee is occasionally required to stand, move, bend at the waist, stoop, crouch, crawl, or kneel, climb and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee may occasionally lift and move up to 10 pounds and rarely lift and move up to 25 pounds.
