VP, Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)

Reporting to the President, and serving as an integral member of ISRI’s senior management team, the Vice President (VP) of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) manages all elements of ISRI’s environmental, health and safety programs (including facility operations and transportation) and Staff in an effort to advance EHS as a Core Value for ISRI and the industry it represents. The VP is responsible for providing industry leadership and strategic direction for ISRI’s EHS programs, while working with volunteer leadership and staff to develop the needed EHS tools including safety initiatives, programs and training to assist the membership in developing safer and environmentally compliant workplaces. As the voice of the association on EHS, the VP ensures that ISRI’s message is conveyed to members and others through all appropriate communication vehicles. Further, as the voice of the industry on EHS, the VP works with the appropriate regulatory agencies in an effort to elevate the industry’s efforts.

It is the responsibility of this position to establish the vision, and develop and implement a strategic plan for ISRI’s EHS program efforts. As part of that effort, the VP of EHS is responsible for …

  • Identifying, designing and implementing environmental, safety and health programs and training that provide members with the necessary tools to help them implement safe and environmentally compliant work practices and procedures in their operations
  • Working with the membership to continue to identify and develop industry Best Safe Practices for key hazardous operations as identified via interactions, communications and meetings.
  • Working with the members ISRI’s Circle of Safety Excellence™ to incorporate the value of benchmarking data along with other possible program enhancements including safety mentoring, and sharing of best practices from a safety leadership perspective.
  • Ensuring consistency in delivery of service and messaging across all environmental safety and health programs.
  • Providing technical environmental, safety and health guidance to the membership via webinars, training materials, presentations, seminars and other outreach activities that assist them in developing their own EHS tools and programs.
  • Providing EHS staff with clear direction and communicate strategies to allow them to develop the necessary tools and programs in their various areas of expertise.
  • Interacting with the appropriate governmental agencies (OSHA, EPA) as needed.
  • Acting as liaison with relevant ISRI member committees


  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant technical field, preferably science.
  • Advanced degree and/or professional certifications a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 years of Safety and/or EHS experience, as well as experience managing people.
  • Minimum of 10-15 of progressive program development experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker.
  • Ability to work with diverse teams.
  • Corporate experience a plus.
