Sr. Safety & Health Specialist

Georgia-Pacific has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Safety & Health Specialist at our Foley Cellulose facility in Perry, FL. This role will report directly to the Safety and Health Manager and will assist facility leadership with the design and implementation of a safety and health management system with an emphasis on compliance, critical hazards, and risk reduction. The selected individual will align closely with our company values and will serve as a role model and coach for other employees through the application of Georgia-Pacific’s MBM® framework and Guiding Principles, including safety & health compliance and achievement of mill and corporate safety objectives.

Foley Cellulose LLC is a world-class manufacturing facility where team members use innovative technologies to produce specialty and market fluff pulp for a variety of high-end uses across the globe. A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
* Providing leadership and direction to achieve the safety and health vision through management commitment and employee ownership
* Facilitating the organization’s safety and health ownership through integration of the safety and health management system
* Assisting with the development and utilization of risk assessment methods/systems for anticipating, identifying and evaluating hazards
* Providing a good foundation and solid understanding of Georgia-Pacific safety and health standards and all OSHA, Federal and State regulations
* Participating with facility leaders during agency inspections
* Assisting employees in aligning to a vision of lower risk tolerance/preference
* Assisting facility leadership with the development of short and long-term safety & health objectives, targets, strategies, and measures that identify critical hazards, prioritize, and mitigate risks
* Assisting with the evaluation, interpretation, and compliance with safety and health laws, regulations and permits as it relates to the operation of the facility
* Managing the mill industrial hygiene programs to include HazCom, respiratory protection, asbestos, radiation and industrial hygiene monitoring
* Facilitating the development, improvement, and implementation of facility safety and health programs and safety training systems
* Supporting the process safety and chemical process safety programs
* Applying Human & Organization Performance (HOP) concepts so the facility becomes a robust learning environment where knowledge sharing occurs in an expedited manner

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, or other safety, technical, or engineering field
* Seven (7) years or more of safety & health experience in an industrial and/or heavy manufacturing industry
* Experience in evaluating and managing workplace injuries and illnesses
* Experience using Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:
* Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or equivalent certification
* Experience with petrochemical/PSM covered processes
* Experience working in the pulp and paper/containerboard industry
* Experience working with industrial hygiene, sampling, radiation safety, etc.
