Are you passionate about workplace safety and have a desire to be part of a successful team? BHHC is looking for a Senior Loss Control Specialist responsible for providing loss control services to assigned clients in a specific territory. The territory for this role is the larger Sacramento area, but includes additional travel to other clients occasionally elsewhere in Northern California.

This position is responsible for providing risk management consultation services to current and prospective policyholders for the Workers Compensation Division. BHHC is committed to providing our insureds and agents with professional loss control services to help reduce the frequency and severity to workplace accidents or loss. As a Senior Loss Control Specialist, you will leverage your knowledge and experience to make recommendations that will improve employee safety & health.

  • Manages assigned book of business within a given territory by visiting worksites, evaluating environments, and creating follow-up reports. 
  • Anticipates potential issues at policyholder sites, monitors policyholder loss activity and develops loss reduction strategies.
  • Assists policyholders in identifying key objectives to improve safety and loss control at the workplace. Provides consulting and training services to support the account reaching loss control objectives.
  • Serves as resource to underwriters, brokers and insureds in the field of safety, loss control and regulations related to employee safety. Conducts technical trainings. 
  • Develops and participates in presentations to insureds, underwriters, other BHHC employees, brokers and LC vendors.
  • Reviews underwriting requests for loss control and coordinate assignment of work with other loss control staff.



  • Graduate of four year college or university program, preferably in Occupational Safety and Health or Environmental Health and Sciences. 
  • 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry providing loss control or job-related safety services, preferably with a  workers’ compensation insurance carrier.
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Graduate Safety Professional (GSP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or similar certification preferred.
  • Ability to travel (with an overnight stay) approximately 20-25% of the time
  • Valid Driver's License, required
