Sr. Environmental Health Safety (EHS) Specialist

We are seeking two (2) Senior Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist to join our team. In this role the Senior EHS Specialists will provide environmental, health and safety support for daily facility operations. 

Promote a proactive, safety culture. Understand OSHA/EPA/DNR/etc. compliance, assess risks in operations, and promote EHS programs. Provide resources for documentation, communications, site surveys, and personnel training.  Assess new regulations and assist in determining steps to achieve compliance.  Support sustainability development and administration.  Provide site support for the Beaver Falls and Fulton New York locations, or the Lancaster Pennsylvania and Marshalltown Iowa locations.

The positions to be based in Fulton NY and Lancaster PA or Marshalltown IA locations along with supporting corporate programs at the locations.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Upgrade existing and develop new safety and environmental programs as assigned to ensure regulatory compliance and/or improve operational performance in employee safety or environmental areas.
  • Understand environmental, health and safety regulations and conduct internal audits to ensure compliance
  • Manage R&D/customer requests for REACH, RoHS, etc. information
    • Be the single point of contact for requests for product formulation verification
    • Update Lydall internet page with certification statements regarding products
    • Insure formulation changes have updated certification statements
    • Research changes in regulations on restricted/banned materials
  •  Provide training programs and updates for various regulatory programs to include at a minimum:Prepare monthly report summarizing EHS requirements for locations and follow up as needed to ensure timely completion of mandatory reporting.

  • Work with the locations to reduce workers compensation costs, including assisting with accident investigations and preparing report analysis on accident statistics to find root cause.
  • Develop EHS safety teams and/or committees
  • Lead EHS-related projects in areas such as machine guarding and ergonomic improvements
  • Conduct / assist locations with safety audits and conduct the necessary follow up with the locations to ensure projects get completed on time and as outlined.  Could assist CHQ DEHS during audits at other domestic locations.
  • Collect site’s OSHA logs on an annual basis and review for accuracy
  • Research various EHS topics as directed by the CHQ DEHS
  • Provide assistance / site support for other North American locations as needed

Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required for Consideration as a Candidate: 

  • BS Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety Management
  • Five to seven years of experience in a manufacturing plant safety and environmental curriculum.
  • Five to seven years of experience working with OSHA regulations and issues
  • Three to five years of experience providing safety training to employees
  • Ability to direct activities that result in a safe workplace.
  • Effective presentation and communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Products
  • Demonstrable knowledge of GHS/REACH/RoHS
  • Demonstrable knowledge in lockout/tagout and machine guarding
