Sr. Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager

SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to manage Cobb US facilities on EHS matters. This includes duties of: protecting the environment, achieving regulatory compliance, minimization of injuries and illnesses, data tracking and sustainability. This position serves as a subject expert to ensure compliance with EHS standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide direct oversight on EHS matters for Cobb US locations. Conduct EHS investigations, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions;
  • Manage regional managers and location EHS on appropriate compliance with local, state, federal and internal policies/programs;
  • Provide EHS collaboration and support to facility management; Review, manage and issue notices of intent for environmental permitting to include but not limited to: air, storm water, CAFO, waste water; complete radiation safety officer requirements and assist regional/location EHS on radiation compliance;
  • Manage safety compliance efforts to include fall protection, chemical safety, exposure monitoring, and others;
  • Manage in depth, continued growth programs to reduce injuries/illnesses;
  • Manage sustainability reporting and tracking;
  • Conduct industrial hygiene monitoring and provide support for location exposure monitoring;
  • Conduct routine EHS compliance audits.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
College degree (or equivalent experience) with 8+ years of progressive experience in field of expertise, or advanced degree (if required) with 6+ years of progressive experience.

Accountability/Role: 
Seasoned leader with ability to manage: US EHS activities and responsibilities, multiple departments, initiatives at multiple locations.  Manages strategies to achieve regulatory compliance, company objectives and financial targets. Communicate EHS compliance, status and occurrences to EHS Director. 

Special Skills:
Strong math skills; ability to work with a broad spectrum of people; strengths in the following EHS areas: industrial hygiene, radiation, air, CAFO, fall protection, respiratory protection, chemical management, SPCC, OSHA record keeping and sustainability.

Computer Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office. Must be able to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals using available computer programs. This position requires strong Microsoft Excel skills including building and managing spreadsheets.

Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; intermediate presentation skills. 

Supervisory:
Manages team of EHS professionals including regional EHS managers (4) and EHS senior supervisors (6).

Travel: Eight (8) domestic trips.

Biosecurity:
When visiting jobsites/biosecurity environments, showering before entering the facilities is required. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsites except for medical ID jewelry. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds). The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times. 

Physical:  
Must use safe lifting techniques.  While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, talk or hear. The team member must occasionally lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds. Personal Protective Equipment Required: When visiting facilities is expected to follow the required safety procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment.
