Position Summary: Responsible for the management of company’s global IH and Safety programs, including all activities related to manufacturing, R&D and administrative functions. Provides IH risk identification, monitoring, mitigation and overall support & direction for Manufacturing, R&D and general Administrative personnel. Develops, implements and maintains consistent safety programs and practices at all sites. Establishes programs that minimize work place risk (i.e. chemical, physical, ergonomic, etc.).

Defines, designs and implements safe work practices and programs that ensure regulatory compliance. Works closely with site leaders and employees to achieve goal of “Vision of Zero”. Provides IH and safety program thought leadership; establishes global standards, policies, procedures and tools needed to minimize IH and safety-related risks, ensure compliance and protect employees. Directs global network of IH and safety contract resources. Maintains global databases & tools.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage global Industrial Hygiene and Safety programs. Work with sites and groups to perform risk assessments to establish site-specific improvement plans.
• Maintain scorecards, KPIs and other metrics/tools to ensure program execution.
• Sets-up and manages global IH resource network that provides company approved IH support to sites within each region.
• Provides IH and safety support, direction, and assistance to sites, teams, employees in order to ensure regulatory compliance and drive to Vision of Zero injuries/illness/exposure.
• Supports the business by working with customers, directly if needed, to work through any product or application-related IH or safety issues.
• Supports new product/new raw material introduction process. Reviews risks and develops safe work practices that effectively mitigate risk. Work closely with Toxicology and Product Stewards on labeling, SDSs, etc.
• Establishes and maintains IH and safety related policies, procedures, work instructions, and tools.
• Works with Engineering to establish Global Engineering Standards as needed to ensure IH and safety-related risk mitigation is considered and “Design with EHS in Mind”.
• Provides subject matter expertise in IH and safety-related areas (i.e. ergonomics, monitoring and sampling, PPE selection, job risk assessments, ventilation, noise, etc.)
• Work with Medical Department on “work relatedness” determinations, recordability, job evaluations, return to work, pregnancy reviews.
• Develops and executes IH and safety training programs at global sites.

Education and Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene or Industrial Safety
• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
• Demonstrated effective program and project management, strategic thinking and leadership skills.
• Experience in manufacturing and/or R&D/process development environments.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.


• Advanced degree in Safety/Industrial Hygiene
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
• Chemical or petrochemical industry experience
• International experience
• Multi-site experience
