Senior Environmental Compliance Manager

Job Description: 
This position serves as a corporate resource for all environmental compliance and regulatory matters.    This position provides technical guidance to Sr. Management and the EHS Manager by monitoring the activities of the Federal, State and Regional regulatory agencies to identify opportunities for improving and upgrading processes and materials used.

Responsibilities:

  • Integrates and develops processes that meet or exceed EHS requirements, and business needs across the organization. He/she manages complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise and is involved in long-term planning and contributes to the overall business strategy.
  • Provides a broad spectrum of technical management expertise and knowledge to balance regulatory requirements with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Provides technical guidance and support to the EHS Manager and Compliance Manager and assists with creating measurable objectives and targets for environmental aspects and risks
  • Develops Workable strategies to mitigate/eliminate compliance risks and guide the material acceptance process through regulations and legislative challenge.
  • Analyze new and complex business projects against regulatory requirements and provide practical, workable solutions to the business.
  • Use a hands-on approach to help assure organizational compliance with EPA federal, state and local regulatory requirements
  • Provides support to the EHS department on regulatory reporting
     

Education & Experience:

  • Master Degree in Environmental Affairs or other Environmental related fields
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing or an industrial related field (reclamation or recycling facility experience desired)
  • 7 to 10 years EPA and other applicable regulatory affairs
  • Comprehensive and advanced knowledge and understanding of relevant technical requirements and regulatory compliance including Air Permitting and regulatory reporting
  • Demonstrated understanding of the relationship between  business activities and relevant regulatory state, local and regulatory requirements
  • Experience with management systems and standards specifically ISO 14001 and ISO 9001
  • Proven ability to use critical thinking skills and rigorous logic and methods to solve challenging issues with effective solutions related to regulatory compliance
  • Knowledge of air permitting requirements and air pollution abatement and control measures for production processes and equipment.
  • Knowledge of storm water permitting requirements and related reporting requirements
  • Advanced written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to effectively address complex matters
  • Knowledge of TRI (form R) and Tier II Sara 313 required
