Senior Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks an Environmental Health and Safety Manager who is customer service oriented and strives to deliver solutions that meet and exceed the needs of a growing manufacturing company.

The EH&S Manager will lead the development and maintenance of the company EHS culture while motivating and influencing others in a positive way. you are interested in this opportunity to join us and partner in making electric power safer, more reliable and more economical then this position may be for you!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and improve SEL safety and environmental health programs to comply with ISO, local, state and national requirements and regulations.
  • Evaluate new manufacturing processes and chemicals; recommend ways to mitigate hazards.
  • Lead active hazard control and accident prevention programs; identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Train our employees and leaders to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Model, teach, and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
  • Understand. Create. Simplify.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in safety, industrial safety, science, engineering or related field or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years' experience working in safety including 5 years in a safety management role
  • Proven knowledge and experience in testing for air quality, conducting safety audits (including third party audits and regulator visits), and analyzing ergonomic and environmental concerns.
  • Proven knowledge and experience with evaluating new chemicals and new manufacturing processes
  • Skilled in working with Safety Committee volunteer members and management
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Background check results satisfactory to SEL
  • Negative drug test result(s)


Preferred Qualifications
Experience in an electronic or related manufacturing business
