Senior Director, Environment, Health & Safety (EHS)

  • Lead the development and implementation of best-in-class safety program and culture where the goal is nothing short of zero incidents.
  • Empower employees to own the safety message and work in a self-managed and safe manner at all times.
  • Refine JLL’s EHS programs on the account to ensure adoption of corporate standards.
  • Provide strategic leadership, technical expertise, and support for all client account programs on regulatory compliance issues in Environmental Health and Safety. This includes leading a geographically distributed team of EHS Managers and specialists to deliver the program to standards.
  • Manage the OSHA 301/300 recordkeeping requirements for the account and ensure proper recording in the JLL AIMS (Accident & Incident Management System).
  • Create and maintain quantitative EHS measures that accurately reflect safety performance and culture. This includes monthly dashboards as well as ad hoc reports as requested by client. Provide current and historical EHS data relevant to all KPI metrics as required by contract.
  • Lead account leadership to investigations of safety events including the analysis of root cause(s), remediation/ corrective actions, communications to share the lessons-learned and follow up closure.
  • Support the JLL Corporate  National Director, EHS Americas in rolling out new compliance and best management practices programs across the account (and occasionally support JLL-wide EHS activities).
  • Collaborate with other JLL EHS managers to learn best practices and publish best practices developed on client account for benefit of all firm clients.
  • Support Account Leaders and manage the training program for the account including document creation, tracking and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with all EHS Sections of the JLL Engineering Services Compliance Program (ESCP). Be the primary point-of-contact for the EHS sections of the ESCP program and drive account compliance.
  • Provide oversight and alignment for training/presentations as needed on specific topics applicable to the account employees.
  • Ensure that EH&S accidents, injuries, near misses/good catches, and other events are captured in corporate systems and the data is analyzed, managed and reported.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety or relevant field experience required.
  • Master’s Degree in relevant field preferred.
  • 10+ years prior experience leading a progressive and successful EH&S program in a large and geographically diverse engagement.
  • Experience in Manufacturing or Warehouse/Distribution environments is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in ISO9001, ISO14001 and OSHAS 18001 standards and industry practices preferred.
  • Six Sigma / Lean Experience preferred


  • Professional Certifications (CSP, ASP) preferred.
  • LEED certification, preferred
  • Relevant professional certifications a plus (e.g. OSHA 10/30 Hour Instructor, CSP, CIH, CHST, CHMM)


  • Demonstrated acumen in safety program management including knowledge of applicable OSHA, DOT, DOL, and other EHS laws.
  • Create an environment around EHS that is front of mind, real time and embedded in every day behaviors.
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement programs in the interest of incrementally improving the safety culture and performance.
  • Working knowledge of relevant current legislation.
  • Practical working knowledge of Health and Safety tools and techniques, ideally within a Facilities Management environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant standards, legislation, codes of practice, guidance and operating procedures.
  • Presentation skills to deliver specialist advice at all levels and to deliver localized training to staff as required.
  • Strong organizational skills, information management proficiency and collaborative management style are needed.
  • Ability to keep abreast of trends and related best practice.
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills in order to establish credibility with clients, colleagues and senior management.
  • Ability to work through and identify the root cause of any problem
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to carry out an audit and gather objective evidence through observation, interview and sampling of documents and records.            
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).


  • Must be available for after-hours emergencies and issues
  • Ability to travel from 10-50% as the role requires: Travel average 10% - 35%
