Safety Supervisor

Georgia-Pacific’s Consumer Products division is seeking a qualified safety and health professional for a Safety Supervisor at our Crossett pulp and paper manufacturing operation in Crossett, AR. The Safety Supervisor will create value by assisting in development, implementation, and maintenance of the Company’s Health and Safety programs. This role provides leadership, coaching, mentoring, training, and development to advance the overall company safety culture and performance.

The Crossett mill is a unionized facility with 1,000+ employees making tissue, towel and bleached board products. Crossett, AR provides a safe, modern community at the heart of some of the finest hunting, fishing and wildlife locations in the South, yet is a short drive to shopping, food and entertainment centers and within a few hours of major urban centers.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
* Managing competing demands which requires a strong process approach to work, strong organizational skills, teamwork and the ability to establish, communicate and adhere to priorities
* Managing hourly safety advocate
* Designing, implementing, and leading safety and health programs, compliance strategies, and management systems
* Preparing and conducting required regulatory training and work with facility personnel to increase awareness of safety and health issues
* Performing ongoing evaluations/audits of safety and health programs facility wide
* Assisting in preparing internal corporate safety and health reports and recommendations
* Participating in and/or leading incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
* Responding to site personnel for assistance and support on safety and health-related issues
* Assisting with the development of strategic plans to achieve short and long-term safety and health improvement goals
* Planning promoting, organizing, directing and auditing safety-related activities and operations. Ensuring the adherence of program procedures
* Advising management on problem correction

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s Degree or higher OR actively working toward the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field
* Five (5) years or more safety leadership experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment
* Experience and knowledge of federal/state safety regulatory requirements
* Proficiency using Microsoft Office software (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health Science, or related field
* Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or equivalent certification
* Experience and knowledge with OSHA outreach programs
* Experience having direct reports
* Experience with Leading Indicators Management
