Safety Specialist

We have an opening for a Safety Specialist located at our Tukwila, Washington office. This is a new position on our Safety Team and a unique opportunity for an individual who is seeking to further their EHS skills working directly with our employees located at our Central and Western Washington branches. Be part of a team creating world class safety outcomes in a multi-state midsized heavy equipment sales and service organization serving construction, oil and gas, mining, and marine customers.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct safety and hazard inspections of branches and provide feedback and safety solutions to branch leadership.
  • Conduct safety training for staff and employees and advice on safety protocols and procedures.
  • Assist Safety Director in various projects related to companywide safety improvement.
  • Act as liaison between employees and management to ensure optimal communication between all stakeholders pertaining to safety related initiatives.
  • Respond to emergency situations and participate in incident and accident investigations. Ensure identified hazards/behaviors are resolved.
  • Facilitate injury review conferences with injured individual and stakeholders. Create accident investigation analysis and distribute to stakeholders.
  • Monitor and follow-up on DOT status, or concerns. Investigate DOT vehicle accidents as needed. Conduct branch DOT audits.
  • Maintain regular physical presence in shop and parts areas of home branch (Seattle and Washington locations) or during other branch visits.
  • Act as point of contact for all state and federal regulatory agencies in region.

Personal Attributes, Experience, and Education:

  • Demonstrated experience in safety with a Bachelor's degree preferred in Occupational Safety & Health and 2 years plus experience in an HSE role.
  • Ability and willingness to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with unexpected requests and changing priorities.
  • General understanding and experience preferred of mechanical aspects of our essential business functions (service/parts department).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products required with strong knowledge of Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, with demonstrated ability to deliver effective training presentations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization in a variety of workplace situations with professionalism and a strong customer focus.
  • Ability to earn trust and respect from internal customers – our employees.
  • Ability to work around occasional dust, noise, hot, cold, and other physical hazards associated with a service department and warehouse environment.
