Safety Specialist

As a Safety Specialist, you’ll make sure our warehouses and the people who work in them are protected according to local, state, and federal regulations. Every day you will be on the road within your territory as the sole contact for safety-related questions, trainings, investigations and support. In the warehouse, you’re our real-time and proactive educator working alongside teams to assess and support the implementation of better systems. You’re a coach and reliable resource for these teams, always looking to stay on top of the latest laws and regulations.

To be successful in this role you must have experience working in a multi-site Safety environment owning the safety function and ensuring compliance with Local, State, and Federal Safety & Health and DOT laws.


‚ÄčEvery day you will:

  • Head to a warehouse in your territory across California, Nevada, or Arizona.
  • Be the primary contact and go-to for audits, observations, and training that will keep our teams safer. Our goal? Everybody who comes to work leaves the same way. 
  • Attend meetings and coach leadership on ways to build a safety-first culture.
  • React in real-time to accidents and unexpected events in your territory, advising teams on what to do next.
  • Ensure compliance with Local, State, and Federal Safety & Health and DOT laws, regulations, permits, and company mandated policies and procedures

In addition you will:

  • Keep abreast of new laws and regulations in the Safety & Health field
  • Keep abreast of new technologies and programs in the Safety & Health field and make recommendations for adoption to the appropriate managers.
  • Drive timely completion of corrective actions associated with  near-miss incidents, injury investigations, physical hazards, compliance inspections and audits
  • Design new and maintain existing company policies and procedures and help company divisions and departments with implementation
  • Assist company leadership and associates in understanding Safety & Health and DOT laws, regulations, permits, standards, and concepts to prevent workplace injuries, occupational hazards and non-compliance.
  • Coordinate occupational health monitoring activities for associates (i.e. respiratory, noise, and chemicals) in connection with operations
  • Manage, direct, and coordinate claim activities in workers compensation, liability, general auto liability, and property
  • Manage annual service instructions, programs, and audits with property and insurance carriers and brokers
  • Interpret and resolve loss control survey reports or recommendations by related insurance specialists



Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Someone willing to travel more than 75% of the time with occasional overnight trips.
  • Multi-site warehouse safety experience responsible for fleets and teams of 20 or more.
  • You know, understand, and can apply Safety & Health and DOT laws, regulations and standards on the Local, State and Federal levels off the top of your head.
  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Safety with 3-5 years Industrial/Occupational Safety & Health and DOT experience or Associates or Technical degree with 5-8 years Industrial/Occupational Safety & Health and DOT experience
  • You are able to communicate with all levels from laborer through senior management to develop program support. This includes the aptitude to work within government/regulatory guidelinse and with agency personnel
