Safety Manager

ASC Process Systems is currently seeking a talented individual to fill the position of Safety Manager. ASC is the world-leader in the manufacture of custom process equipment and control systems and is the largest manufacturer of composite autoclaves in the United States. Our customer base includes Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Tesla, Google, SpaceX, Northrup Grumman, and BAE, just to name a few. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and offices are located in Valencia, just a few miles north of Magic Mountain. 

The Safety Manager is responsible to develop and maintain safety programs, policies and procedures, and ensure a safe and healthy work environment while achieving compliance with OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations. 

Details of Position: 

  • Champion ASC's safety culture and lead new initiatives to improve our safety program.
  • Manage a team of two safety department members and sustain a positive department culture.
  • Manage company health programs, including workers compensation, modified work offers, and employee accommodations.
  • Manage safety training, including new hire safety training, and maintain training records.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Write safety policies and procedures including training materials, work instructions, and work aids.
  • Lead weekly production safety meetings.
  • Train field lead personnel on performing job-site safety inspections, recognizing safety hazards, safety policies, and post-incident procedures. Travel to field locations to audit site safety.
  • Coach and train supervisors on building safety culture and post-incident procedures.
  • Perform incident investigations to identify a root cause and implement corrective actions. Audit corrective actions to ensure they are effective.

This is a leadership role and the successful candidate must be someone who can inspire others to be enthusiastic and dedicated members of a team. Must have excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing, as well as outstanding interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. A positive attitude and can-do approach is a must. 

Occasional business travel to customer sites should be expected. Passport and ability to travel overseas is required. 

Skills, Experience and/or Educational Requirements: 

  • 4-year degree from an accredited college preferred or minimum of 5 years work experience in a safety role in lieu of a degree. 
  • Previous experience in manufacturing or construction industry for 100+ employee company. 
  • Experience writing safety programs, procedures, training, and presentation materials. 
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulation with relevant formal training and certification in workplace health and safety.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, ability to create manuals, PowerPoint presentations and spreadsheets.
