Our company has its foundation in nearly a century of experience building culverts and more than 40 years of experience in grading for various private, government, and commercial projects.  E.R. Snell is also one of Georgia’s largest Bridge Builders and Asphalt Paving contractors.

We are currently advertising for a Safety Manager for the Atlanta, Augusta, Macon Ga. area. This position consists of daily job inspections on a variety of locations including: Bridge, culvert, general construction, asphalt laydown, shops and plant facilities.  This job will require working mainly in the field on job sites.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to promote positive safety culture to multidisciplinary workforce.
  • Knowledge and application of health and safety standards; Aid in company compliance with all local, state and federal regulations such as OSHA, DOT, MSHA and the EPA.
  • Conduct formal investigations on all work-related incidents. Develop root cause analysis of accident causes and how to prevent reoccurrence
  • Assist HR Manager on worker’s compensation claims
  • Accomplish safety compliance by coordinating, administering and implementing comprehensive training programs in construction, general industry and environmental safety.
  • Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace
  • Monitor compliance to company policies and safety standards by inspecting employees, operations, equipment and machinery for possible unsafe conditions
  • Excellent motivational skills to help employees maintain high levels of participation and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Outstanding organization and attention to detail
  • Work closely with Project Owners, PM’s, Superintendents, and sub-contractors to ensure implementation of safety policies
  • Develop and provide technical and administrative direction on all safety and health programs.
  • Educate and train employees on health and safety standards. Including new hire orientation and safety training.
  • Order non-standard or specialized safety equipment needed on the project.
  • Other safety-related duties as may be assigned.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience
  • Bilingual – Fluency in Spanish
  • OSHA 510 – OSHA Construction Standards/OSHA 511 – OSHA General Industry
  • OSHA 500 –Trainer- Construction/OSHA 501 –Trainer- General Industry
  • STS-C (Safety Trained Supervisor -Construction)
  • STS (Safety Trained Supervisor)
  • CHST- Construction Health and Safety Technician
  • OSHT - Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician
  • Safety Management Training / Advanced Safety Management Training
  • Basic Computer skills: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook
  • Must work well independently and as part of a team
  • Emergency Management Training
  • First Aid - CPR & AED
  • Good MVR & Background check

Physical & Mental Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent standing and walking required throughout a work shift
  • Must be able to work at heights up to 70 feet.
  • Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and crawl occasionally.
  • May work some nights and weekends.
