Job Summary:

The Safety Manager drives management and associate ownership of safety practices in the work environment by establishing and executing a safety strategy that will result in a Safety First culture. Will lead the implementation of and oversight of all company safety initiatives including processes and protocol as well as OSHA and regulatory compliance. 

What you will be doing:

  • Models and promotes an organizational culture that fosters safe practices through effective leadership
  • Responsible for creating a safety strategy resulting in a Safety-First culture using behavior-based safety initiatives
  • Drives management and employee ownership of safety practices in the work environment
  • Collaborates with Executive Leadership and Management in establishing a strong Safety-First culture that is reflected in positive safety metrics and strong engagement scores.
  • Ensures compliance with safety policies, regulations, and reporting in telecommunication
  • Maintains and updates existing safety policies and implements new policies
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA, federal and state requirements
  • Develops, maintains and facilitates safety education training initiatives and programs; conducts safety orientations as needed. Maintains sign-off sheets and other documentation
  • Inspects work locations to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards
  • Provides regular worksite safety training for all associates
  • Manages accident-prevention and loss-control systems and programs. Oversees the investigation of accidents and injuries, coordinates corrective action. Reviews accident/injury reports for accuracy and detail and ensures that corrective actions have been taken
  • Partners with department managers to review and improve safety practices. Acts as an advocate of resource for managers, supervisors and team leads responsible for carrying out Safety and risk management initiatives.
  • Leads the administration of the emergency Response team
  • Establish and develop an impactful Safety Committee
  • Ensures all machinery meets highest level of safety guarding and standards. Monitors machine moves to ensure safety compliance
  • Oversees DOT compliance
  • Participates in daily, weekly, and monthly meetings. Completes safety reports.

What You Need For This Position:

  • A bachelor’s degree; or five (5) to ten (10) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of two years in a safety leadership position
  • Telecommunication industry experience a plus
  • Completion of OSHA 10 and 30-hour safety course preferred.  Certified Safety Professional a plus
  • Ability to exercise good business judgement and common sense when making recommendations and decisions
  • Ability to effectively train and manage staff
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in an environment that is constantly changing and where numerous tasks and projects are occurring simultaneously
  • Ability to meet deadlines in short time frames
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to write effective reports
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all levels of the company at field sites and offices, and effectively deal with vendors, customers and regulatory agencies
