JOB TITLE: Safety Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Our Client is a fast growing, PSM/GMP regulated specialty chemical producer that has recently built a new facility to accommodate the surge in demand.
  • This person would be responsible for the supervision of the safety within the production facility, which houses batch reactors, distillation columns, and dryers, as well as an extensive research and development laboratory.
  • There is another building as well that houses HR, sales, administration and the main shipping and receiving facility which will be under the responsibility of this Safety Manager.
  • Other responsibilities include the following: training personnel, developing safety strategies, acting as the OSHA representative, present safety recommendations for new processes and expansions, oversee the safety committee, perform root-cause analysis on safety issues, monitor and report safety metrics to internal management and outside regulatory agencies, and be responsible for the shipping of goods within the US and overseas.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S. Safety, Environment Health & Safety, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry degree with 15+ years’ experience out of a PSM regulated production facility within the food additives or specialty chemical industry.
  • This candidate must have 3+ years’ of supervision experience over health & safety personnel, as well as a developed knowledge of plant chemistries and processes.
  • They should also have experience with the following: office-shipping safety, personal protective equipment, HAZCOM, HAZWOPER, fall protection, safety blood borne pathogens, hearing protection, respirator protection, lock-out procedures, forklift safety, and CDROM training.
  • A Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification or GMP experience would be an added bonus.
