Essential Functions

  • Develop and execute health & safety plans and programs in the workplace according to legal guidelines
  • Manage and maintain aspects of the non-subscription program
  • Visit job sites to conduct safety audits on personnel, equipment and materials
  • Maintain safety files and records
  • Create, evaluate and assess safety procedures and policies for the benefit of employees and clients
  • Prepare and conduct safety training sessions for employees
  • Investigate all accident and incidents in the workplace
  • Track incident metrics and report and apply findings
  • Identify safety training needs, develop appropriate training programs and deliver training to employees; solicit feedback from workers and use that feedback to improve existing programs or create new ones
  • Promote safety awareness through internal company resources; maintain corporate safety library (e.g., videos, regulations, reference manuals)
  • Serve as an advocate for the branch safety committees
  • Provide Branches with the requisite guidance, oversight, and assistance to develop a safety culture of zero incidents and operate in full regulatory compliance with all applicable OSHA, DOT, and local regulatory requirements
  • Support operations functions such as National Safety Rodeo in planning, scheduling events, and budgeting
  • Work closely (with all appropriate parties to) ensure annual driver MVR process is complete
  • Monitor and address regulatory compliance (DOT, OSHA, DOL, EPA, and state-mandated programs)
  • Oversee local/state/federal required documentation for DOT inspection and driver records, per regulatory requirement
  • Identify and anticipate hazards and perform risk assessments and propose effective solutions
  • Develop Safety program implementation strategy in coordination with operational leadership to proactively review operations, identify shortcomings and develop solutions
  • Monitor regional regulatory compliance and company safety performance
  • Ensure all OSHA logs are up to date and meet reporting standards
  • Complete BLS surveys as required
  • Act as contact for all OSHA audits
  • Support corporate engineering to implement engineering controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards


Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, with at least 5 years safety engineering or related experience.

  • Proven experience implementing and maintaining highly effective safety programs
  • Thorough understanding of non-subscription and key elements
  • Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
  • Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to train employees or teams on all areas of health & safety
  • Work from an office or travel extensively to multiple locations of the company
