Safety Manager - Construction

Provide direct coordination and leadership for all company safety operations and enforce BCCI safety policies and procedures. Provide training for the entire organization in all facets of safety. Promote a safe working environment and a culture of safety at BCCI.

Representative Tasks and Responsibilities:
The safety manager will be responsible to work with the office and field staff to monitor and coordinate all paperwork in regards to all work related near misses, incidents and injuries.  Visit project site after an incident or near miss, work with subcontractors and clients to complete reporting and to take lead on interactions with clients and subcontractors.  

Preconstruction Planning:
Work closely with the preconstruction team to establish site safety plans, establish project safety budgets and ensure compliance to project safety guidelines established in the bidding process.  Identify and communicate potential safety issues and hazards to the team prior to mobilization.  

Project Site Management: 

  • Perform jobsite safety audits and meet with superintendents to assess and discuss job safety, in order to determine if there are any potential issues that might affect the success of the project.
  • Participate in kick off meetings and check in meetings to discuss and advise on any safety issues or concerns pertinent to a specific project. Report on the safety of the project and help with the education and participate in the correction of any deficiancies.
  • Respond to all accidents and near misses.  Compile and deliver reports to building managers and end-users after an accident or near miss.

Organizational Management: 

  • Establish and manage a safety recognition program for the entire organization.
  • Establish and manage an annual safety budget.

Perform and/or manage all required employee training, such as but not limited to:

  • OSHA 10 (new hire labor foreman & refresher every 3 years)
  • OSHA 30 Training (new hire superintendents & refresher every 3 years)
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Respirator Fit Testing
  • Equipment Operator Training (various)
  • Competent/Awareness Worker Training
  • Fall Protection Training
  • Fire Supression Training
  • Heat Illness Awareness Training
  • Confined Space Awareness Training
  • Maintain and update the Safety Manual (Engllish & Spanish)
  • Maintain and update the IIPP Manual (English & Spanish)
  • All of the above is field oreinted.  Safety should also be incorporated into project budgets and schedules.
