Safety Manager (Chemical)

Position Summary:
The Safety Manager will support the Safety Director and other site leadership regarding Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental matters at this large chemical facility. The incumbent will be specifically responsible for the implementation and continual improvement of the site's safety program as well as the oversight of the team of site safety, health, and environmental superintendents

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, review, revise and implement safety procedures
  • Constantly monitor proposed and new regulatory requirements
  • Design, develop and conduct safety training
  • Direct emergency response team activities
  • Lead/participate in incident investigations
  • Lead and/or participate in audits at this and other company facilities
  • Manage EHS Superintendent team

Education and experience required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering or similar discipline from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 8 years of experience employed full-time, non-contract/non-consulting, in a safety-environmentally conscious, and pro-active, chemical manufacturing environment
  • PSM program experience¬†
  • Demonstrated success conducting employee training regarding EHS matters
  • Strong, engaging, people-centered leadership style.
  • Proactive, assertive and works with a sense of urgency.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated passion for Safety and Health.
  • Strong technical expertise in manufacturing safety and knowledgeable of safety processes.
  • Strong knowledge of laws and regulations regarding OSHA and EPA.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • High level of integrity, strong work ethic, good judgment and problem solving skills.¬†
  • Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency in MS Office
  • Occasional travel required
