Job Summary: 
As we continue to scale one of the fastest growing apparel brands, we are seeking a safety & health specialist to help us broaden our reach in building a dynamic workplace. The right person will be a steward in creating an atmosphere where everyone feels ownership for the wellbeing of others. The right person will bring a strategic vision for safety to the business.

Key job responsibilies will include a holistic ownership for safety & security for all sites and locations. Oversee the creation and delivery of education and safety performance metrics. Also included is safety and security documentation, review and investigations as needed. Oversight for workers compensation activity and the creation and adherence to budgets and action plans.

Responsibilities - Safety Specific:

  • Provide a comprehensive review and understanding of compliance to OSHA and VOSHA regulations
  • Development of key measures & metrics to monitor and improve safety performance
  • Evaluate, develop, deliver and monitor safety performance and take actions to ensure compliance & enforcement
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert in the areas of safety and security and serve as a business partner to others
  • Plan and implement Occupational Health & Safety policies and programs
  • Advise and lead employees on various safety-related topics
  • Review and adjust existing policies and procedures to achieve high safety standards
  • Adhere to all the rules and regulations
  • Work with HR to set up a new employee on-boarding process for safety
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop action plans to mitigate risks
  • Enforce preventative measures by working collaboratively w/ management
  • Monitor and review that employees are acting in adherence with rules and regulations
  • Prepare and present reports on accidents and violations and determine causes
  • Oversee workplace repair, installations and any other work that could harm employees' safety
  • Oversee the administration of workers compensation when claims occur

Security Specific:

  • Security system development and implementation (all facilities). This includes physical layout, facility compartmentalization, monitoring strategies, policies and procedures, etc.)
  • Badge/Access card management (issue, updating, exception mgmt, retrieval, etc.)
  • Enforcement and compliance to procedures (monitoring, coaching and discipline)
  • Potential and current employee review and monitoring (background checks, current events, risk assessment)
  • Work place risk management procedures and training for a variety of potential workplace threats and situations


Qualifications: 

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics.
  • BS/BA in safety management or relevant field is preferred
  • Accredited Certificate in occupational health and safety
  • 2 years experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset
  • Highly responsible & reliable and able to manage confidential information
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team
  • Ability to be professional and courteous at all times

Working Conditions:

  • Manufacturing environment – exposure to machinery, noise and other adverse conditions for limited periods of time
