Safety Field Technician

Large, well established national construction firm is looking for an experienced, organized and detail oriented construction safety professional to fill the Safety Field Technician role ensuring that all staff and contractors in  operations comply with company, client and government safety rules and regulations.

Qualifications:
Candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a safety professional.  We have a complete onsite management team and a full component of union craft labor that is capable of self-performing the vast majority of the wide ranging types of construction, that require detailed and well thought out safety protocol and documents. 

These projects range in value of $50k-$1M and have included basic carpet and paint to heavy electrical upgrades to storm drain replacement to custom build-outs for specific science program.  If you are looking for a job that challenges you and has a good balance of computer work and field work, this is the position for you. 

The position is available immediately.  No clearance required, must be a US Citizen.  Ideal candidate will have federal or public sector construction experience (not just residential or commercial.) 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist Senior Site Safety Manager to ensure safety of craft labor, and any subcontractors, activities and actively participate in the implementation of the Integrated Safety Management Program.
  • Understand and comply with the stringent safety requirements of the laboratory in order to clearly communicate with site personnel and lab counterparts.
  • Review approved Job Accident Hazard Analysis (JAHA), generated by Senior  Site Safety Manager, for each active project to fully understand the different safety challenges of each project
  • Interact with lab safety teams to proactively address paperwork issues that may prevent projects from starting.
  • Review construction plans with a proactive mindset.
  • Make regular visits to each project site (typically between 10-40 running concurrently in different stages of construction), to engage crews on potential issues and educate where clarify is required.
  • Work with General Superintendent and General Foremen to maintain and improve safety culture of management and crews.
     

ESSENTIAL

  • Must be certified CHST at minimum
  • Minimum of three years of experience in construction site safety
  • Adept at using computers and Microsoft Office suite products
  • Good interpersonal skills and conflict resolution
