Safety Engineer / Lab Supervisor

Job Summary:

Responsible for the Company's Safety Program and Safety Committee.  Develop, implement, monitor and manage safety programs, policies and procedures.  Ensures that the Company complies with all current safety regulations.  This position is also responsible for Supervising the Quality Control Lab.  These duties include supervising, planning and scheduling lab personnel, equipment calibration and supply purchases to meet production schedules, and R&D testing schedules.

Responsibities and Duties:


  • Lead safety committe functions
  • Facilitate monthly Union/Management and Management Safety Committee meetings to review all accidents, accident investigation reports , inspection reports, training and other safety issues.
  • Ensure that safety training and all other specifically required training is provided for all employees.
  • Research environmental regulations and policies and institute changes to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards (including OSHA, EPA, etc.)

Quality Control Lab

  • Implement training methods and ensure the proper instruction of new employees
  • Prioritize inspection and testing activities for technicians
  • Follow Collective Bargaining Agreement with respect to scheduling technicians, disciplinary issues and grievance issues.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Associates Degree required, Bachelors Degree preferred in applicable discipline
  • Four years safety management experience required that includes current OSHA 30 certification and knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards
  • Four years supervisory experience required
  • Two years industrial laboratory experience and quality management system experience is desired
