Safety Director

ROLE SUMMARY:
The safety Director is responsible for managing risk, evaluating training, implementing corporate programs, conducting safety training, performing jobsite inspections, advocating and fostering a safety culture, and assisting crews with safe work practices. In addition he is expected to assist in safety audits and align operating unit’s safety programs with the overall corporates safety strategy. The Director will also be expected to engage in safety incident investigations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the personal and/or team implementation of “SAFETY AS A VALUE”
  • Conduct OSHA Safety Training
  • CPR/First Aid Training
  • Conduct OSHA 10 and 30 Hour training
  • Perform safety audits of project sites
  • Assist in providing proper safety equipment
  • Conduct timely and accurate accident and incident evaluations
  • Create weekly, monthly, and annual safety reports
  • Maintain current safety checklists and audit sheets
  • Review hiring procedures
  • Interface with insurance company in regards to claims
  • Weekly/Monthly expense reports
  • Budget preparation and cost control for group
  • Responsible and accountable for forecasting and adhering to budgets for travel, training etc. necessary.
  • Responsible and accountable for maintaining direct reports expenses within budget.
  • Accountable for increasing profitability, reducing expenses, while increasing efficiency
  • Review and comply with ongoing department staff goals
  • Daily supervision of Team.
  • Create, communicate and review ongoing staff goals.
  • Ensure proper training is provided and maintained within assigned group.
  • Work with HR for hiring, coaching and terminations within assigned group.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for personnel issues within assigned group.
  • Ensure strictest of confidentiality at all times
  • Other duties as assigned
     

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  •  Bachelor’s Degree in Safety or related field or related equivalent experience
  • Fifteen (15) years of safety experience within the electrical construction industry
  • Ability to travel to jobsites
  • Clean driving record
  • Valid Driver license


PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety
  • CSP
  • OSHA Certifications
