Safety & Continuous Improvement Facilitator - Position Objective:  

Through the practice of servant leadership; enhance people’s lives; ensure the success of packaging equipment projects by facilitating safety program and continuous improvement initiatives to safely deliver quality, best value products and services, on time, to internal and external customers.

Primary Responsibilities:  

  • Develop and manage the company safety program to ensure workplace safety through proactive initiatives, training and metrics
  • Recommend and implement safety policies and procedures        
  • Lead Safety Committee
  • Perform safety inspections and reports
  • Identify company safety training needs, develop and conduct safety training programs
  • Promotes safety and health awareness through internal company communications
  • Ensure compliance and keep up to date with applicable OSHA regulations.
  • Audit practices and records to ensure compliance with company programs and OSHA.
  • Administers worker’s compensation claims and return to work program
  • Develop and implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to process, procedure and policy
  • Develop and implement metrics to measure process performance and support continuous improvement efforts
  • Monitor performance to metrics and proactively work with department managers on corrective actions
  • Analyze the financial impact of potential continuous improvment projects
  • Facilitate Continuous Improvement Suggestion Program and initiatives
  • Communicate openly, share knowledge, build positive collaboration between departments
  • Support and contribute to department and company metrics
  • Be actively engaged in continuous improvement projects and culture

General Responsibilities: 

  • Adhere to, support and promote the Aagard vision and culture statements
  • Demonstrate professional, respectful interaction with other team members
  • Accurately and professionally represent Aagard to customers and vendors
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in a Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Safety Management or related field plus two years manufacturing experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Must be highly safety conscious
  • Knowledge of federal and state (OSHA) occupational safety and health administration regulations
  • Experience with Lean or other continuous improvement principles or programs preferred
  • Ability to work and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Microsoft products including proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience or training with computers and ability to learn and use Aagard specific software
  • Proficient keyboarding skills
  • Ability to operate or be trained to operate a forklift
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Observant with attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate professionally with internal and external customers verbally and in writing, including presentation skills
  • Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or climb
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to take action and be proactive
