Regional Field Safety Technician

As a full time utility contractor, Asplundh performs tree pruning and removals, right of way clearing and maintenance, vegetation management with herbicides, emergency storm work, and logistical support.

We are currently seeking a full time Regional Field Safety Technician. This is a Union Exempted position who reports directly to the Regional Safety Superintendent.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and the requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to wear PPE as required.
  • Enter and exit vehicle multiple times a day.
  • Operate a company vehicle in a safe manner in accordance with applicable traffic laws and company policy.
  • Withstand exposure to weather conditions including extreme cold, heat, sun, and rain.
  • Be able to traverse various types of terrain.
  • Be able to read and comprehend written and verbal job instruction.
  • Be able to interpret various OSHA and ANSI standards along with company policies.
  • Be able to understand and follow labor union agreements.
  • Be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis and up to 10 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Be able to perform duties on shifts throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day.
  • Must be available for emergency callout including holidays and weekends or work call outs.
  • Must pass a background check and Motor Vehicle Record Check (MVR).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass a mandatory drug test.

Job Details:

  • Conduct regular job site inspections/job Observations with focus on risk management, correction and documentation of unsafe behavior.
  • Assist in performance of injury, accident, and incident investigations.
  • Evaluation of employee knowledge of safety programs and policies.
  • Audit and verification of required documentation and records.
  • Data collection, input, and distribution of statistical information.
  • Assist General Foreman with training, evaluation, and inspection duties.
  • Interact with property owners and the public in a positive manner.
  • Provide safety coverage in emergency response situations including storm response.
  • Participate in meetings, calls, and other group settings involving management of the safety program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
