Regional Safety (EH&S) Coordinator

Job Description Summary:
The Area EH&S Manager will be responsible for the occupational health, safety and loss control management of our plant facilities in New England.  Work will be done in alignment with the Oldcastle Precast National Platform for Environmental, Health and Safety management. This position will work closely with all levels of management and hourly employees to ensure safety work standards and methodologies are communicated and targeted goals are achieved.  This will involve individual as well as team based objectives and strategies. The Area EH&S Manager will also work with the Regional Market Area Management Team to ensure implementation/continuous improvement of safety processes/systems consistent with Oldcastle policies and applicable regulations. This person will also serve as a catalyst to promote a proactive safety culture within each organization.  The position is based in the Rehoboth, MA plant and will report to the regional General Manager.

Specific duties include: 

  • Providing expertise for local management regarding safety and health issues and applicable regulations
  • Advising and assisting local management in implementing, managing and auditing within the framework of an innovative Health and Safety Management Systems in a manufacturing and construction setting
  • Being an action figure in shifting our safety culture from rules and regulatory compliance to a safety culture developed as a behavior driven value at all levels of the organization.
  • Providing oversight expertise for incident investigations, development of corrective plans and follow-up actions to prevent recurrence
  • Ensure timely reporting and claims management for workers compensation, general liability and automotive liability
  • Coordinate health and industrial hygiene monitoring with risk management insurance provider
  • Work with Regional EH&S Manager in determining strategic national initiatives and developing policies/procedures


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience with state and Federal Environmental Regulations
  • Minimum of 3 years in manufacturing
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • High level of computer proficiency in MS Office products
  • Expert knowledge of OSHA CFR 1910
  • Strong analytical and technical skills
  • Ability to wear hard hat, steel toe boots, safety glasses, reflective vest and ear plugs
  • Ability to work in varied temperatures consistent with same climate conditions of the region (Heat, humidity, etc.)
  • This position involves 50%-60% travel throughout the New England Region by car with air travel required approximately 10% of the time.

Nationally recognized Safety and Health Certifications preferred (OHST, CHST, ASP, CSP, CIH)
