Project Health, Safety & Environmental Manager

Shirley Parsons Americas has a brand new and exclusive requirement for a Project Safety Manager based in Johnson City, Tennessee.

This role oversees a major $450m construction project - working for an international civil engineering contractor with a great industry reputation. The selected candidate will oversee the management of 3 Safety Officers and play a key role in supporting safety, working closely with the client and other contractors on the project. This project requires a strong communicator, able to influence stakeholders at all levels - delivering a behavioral safety program that will create a positive culture.

A great opportunity to promote a proactive safety culture on a flagship project with heavy focus on employee engagement towards the safety program

Candidates MUST have both CSP certification and qualified to deliver OSHA 500 training

The Role: 

  • Work closely with both the Project Director and Safety Officers on site in delivering a positive culture toward safety.
  • Undertake job-site inspections, hazard observations, near miss investigations and audits across all operational projects as deemed necessary
  • Identify, develop and deliver safety training in areas such as: safety regulation, hazardous conditions, use of tools and equipment etc. 
  • Ensure company continually remains compliant and informed of industry regulatory changes when it comes to bodies such as OSHA
  • Devise and deliver a specialist behavioral safety program  


The Candidate:

  • Proven experience in a construction (Civil Engineering) environment 
  • Experience working on major heavy civil projects
  • Bachelors Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering or other related discipline (preferred)
  • Proven communicator, who can engage with key internal & external stakeholders across all levels, from project team to senior leadership
  • Industrial Hygiene awareness is beneficial 
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • OSHA 500 Training qualification
