Job Summary:
The PSM Coordinator supports Manufacturing and Safety by ensuring compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) regulations. PSM Coordinator organizes, maintains, audits, and updates the site PSM program. PSM Coordinator assists with the upgrade and/or development of company/site standards and practices to drive risk reduction while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Lead PSM audits; review and write audit findings and ensure corrective and preventative actions effectively address the findings and reduce risk. Strengthen existing program by developing and/or updating audit protocol as needed.

2. Utilize PSM experience and knowledge to effectively interact with capital project teams by:

a. Providing PHA / PSSR leadership
b. Providing technical support for new products or processes on safety issues
c. Acting as a technical safety resource, including review of equipment and material of construction
d. Providing project input concerning Process Safety requirements to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, site standards, Best Practices, and generally accepted engineering standards (RAGAGEP)
e. Developing site safety standards / best practices for process safety

3. Coordinate incident investigations and root cause analysis to ensure consistency and high-quality output to avoid incident recurrences. Maintain investigation records and recommendations for follow-up.

4. Own the site’s MOC process and lead effort to strengthen existing system, track and report MOC completion timeliness, and ensure all MOCs are communicated and completed within agreed upon timing

5. Ensure consistency and conformity of PHA process and practices by:

a. Leading and improving PHA lifecycle through scheduling, collaborating with PHA leaders before, during, and after the PHA, and establishing a system to track and complete PHA Recommendations
b. Communicating PHA results to affected personnel
c. Ensuring PHA(s) stay “evergreen” by updating PHA(s) to reflect risk reduction improvements following recommendation completion
d. Acting as Process Safety expert for PHAs

6. Own the site’s Process Safety Information and lead effort to strengthen existing system by:


a. Developing, maintaining, and improving paper and electronic storage and workflow processes for all Process Safety related documents, including Process Safety Information, Process Hazard Analyses, Management of Change, Pre-Startup Safety Review, Facility Siting, Mechanical Integrity, etc.
b. Ensuring design information for Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and Pressure Relief Systems (PRS) are available and current to justify appropriate level of risk reduction

7. Characteristics for success in this position include:

Education/Experience/Skills:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in science or engineering or related degree
  • 5+ years related OSHA 1910.119 PSM experience
  • PHA Leader experience utilizing HAZOP and What/If methods with a risk matrix
  • Strong computer skills, database management and proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.

 

Desired:

  • SQF / GMP experience
  • Experience with PHAWorks RA and EHS software programs (MOC, Action Tracking, Incident Reporting, etc.).
  • Working Knowledge of Good Engineering Practices
  • Willingness to learn
