Position Purpose:
Management of Medical and Compliance programs including accurate assessments, Nursing diagnosis, Physician collaboration, Workplace Safety & Insurance Act, Corporate reporting guidelines. This includes management of professional and ancillary staff, including creation, execution and follow through of services available

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Provide first-aid/primary nursing care services to employees for illness and injury for both work and non-work related health issues utilizing the nursing process.
  • Coordinating and monitoring of an early and safe return to work program
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment
  • Participate in various health assessment programs 
  • Engage employees in wellness programs and activities
  • Maintaining an accurate and confidential record keeping system
  • Complete appropriate forms for accurate and timely communication to the WSIB and Short Term Disability.
  • Evaluate the health status of employees returning to work following injury or illness in keeping with company policy in order to safely perform job duties.
  • Expected to work in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety


  • This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent;
  • Working towards or have a current certificate in Occupational Health Nursing
  • Must be a Registered Nurse with an active license in Ontario, preferably with emergency room experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years job-related experience in a health care setting with demonstrated expertise in occupational health and safety, Wellness programs, WSIB claims management, Early and Safe Return to Work programs and attendance/disability management
  • A background in occupational health nursing would be an asset.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong problem solving skills within parameters of governmental, medical, and company policies
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Broad knowledge of current nursing theory and practice as defined by the College of Nurses 

  • Occupational Health Certificate
  • Previous supervisor experience
