National EHS Manager [SC-11015]

A global renewable energy company is seeking a National EHS Manager to lead its safety and environmental program for the US.  The company's diversified, international portfolio of nearly 50 solar and wind projects will have total capacity nearing 2.5GW by 2021.  450MW of solar projects are currently underway in the US, and the company has plans for additional growth, bidding for more work in the region.

The National EHS Manager will report to the Global Head of EHS, but will primarily be working in tandem with the US leadership team to ensure that projects are completed and operated in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

The role:

  • Develop and implement national EHS programs, policies and procedures in line with global EHS best practice.
  • Work closely with the Global Head of EHS to drive a cultural change program across the business, raising awareness of EHS so that it is at the center of all activities.
  • Define both leading and lagging Key Performance Indicators for the EHS program, presenting regular reports to local and global leadership.
  • Assist in the selection of subcontractors, and ensure their compliance with company EHS programs during construction and operation of projects.
  • Develop and deliver country-wide EHS training programs.

The candidate:

  • 5-10 years' EHS experience within the renewable energy sector (solar strongly preferred).
  • Demonstrated understanding of risks related to high voltage, confined spaces, lifting operations and working at height.
  • Knowledge and experience of OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems would be valuable.
  • Recognized EHS certifications (CSP, CHST, etc. strongly preferred).
  • Strong subcontractor management skills.
