Senior Loss Control Specialist

BHHC is looking for a Loss Control Specialist responsible for providing loss control services to assigned clients in a specific territory. The territory for this role is the South Bay Area into Central California including San Jose, Santa Cruz, Salinas, Gilroy, etc, but includes additional travel to other clients occasionally elsewhere in the US.

This position is responsible for providing risk management consultation services to current and prospective policyholders for the Workers Compensation Division. BHHC is committed to providing our insureds and agents with professional loss control services to help reduce the frequency and severity to workplace accidents or loss. As a Loss Control Specialist, you will leverage your knowledge and experience to make recommendations that will improve employee safety & health.

  • Manages assigned book of business within a given territory. This includes visiting worksites, observing and evaluating the environments and risks, and writing follow up reports .
  • Monitors policyholder loss activity and develops loss reduction strategies.
  • Assist policyholders in identifying key objectives to improve safety and loss control at the workplace. Provides consulting and training services to support the account reaching loss control objectives.
  • Serves as resource to underwriters, brokers and insureds in the field of safety, loss control and regulations related to employee safety. Conducts training as appropriate.
  • Develops and participates in presentations to clients, underwriters, other BHHC employees, brokers and Loss Control vendors.
  • Reviews underwriting requests for loss control services and coordinates assignment of work with other loss control staff and supervisors.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health & Science, or related discipline from an accredited college or university strongly preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in the insurance industry providing loss control or job-related safety services, preferably in workers’ compensation insurance
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
  • Experience in the Agriculture is a plus
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Graduate Safety Professional (GSP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Safety and Health Technologist (OHST), or similar certification preferred.
  • Ability to travel (with an overnight stay) approximately 25-30% of the time
