Injury Prevention Specialist (Certified Athletic Trainer)

Amazon is looking for Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) to help support Amazon’s injury prevention program. In this position, you will be a part of the onsite Amcare-Onsite Medical Representative (OMR) Team and will perform both injury prevention activities and provide first aid treatment for injured Associates. This position will work in an Amazon Fulfillment Center and report directly to the Site Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager.

The ATC will provide functions such as: provide first aid treatment to injured employees, proactively analyze tasks for potential ergonomic and safety issues, participate in the workers’ compensation process, perform biomechanical assessments, perform ergonomic assessments and execute other Amazon FC injury prevention program activities. The ATCs will assess and treat injuries, but also observe the Associate performing their job task and educate Associates on ways to perform their tasks effectively with less stress to the irritated body part. Onsite ATCs will proactively observe ergonomic practices and educate associates to improve technique prior to the onset of an irritation or injury.


Detailed Description:

· Provide triage, first aid and/ or referral to outside medical provider, if indicated.
· Perform site drug testing when required.
· Maintain all records of treatment given to associates. Maintain first-aid kits, inventory supplies, restock and clean equipment used in the care of associates.
· Minimize the risk of injury of employees through awareness, education and intervention.
· Be prepared and proficient in all aspects of emergency care.
· Manage the training of managers and associate volunteers in first aid, CPR, AED, Blood Borne Pathogens when necessary.
· Participate in regular site case management review meetings with HR, Risk Management and Safety.
· Attend and participate at “start-up” meetings to lead daily stretches and exercises.Evaluate stretching program – assist safety with custom tailored stretching program, possibly through coordination with the off-site medical provider’s physical therapy department.
· Understand and learn each department and communicate the proper techniques on how to prevent soft tissue injuries.
· Learn each job function in facility so to fully understand the body mechanics involved in the task.
· Frequent “floor time” to interact with and train both associates and managers.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

· Success as an ATC will require a positive, outgoing, energetic work style.
· Ability to communicate programs and initiatives at all levels of the organization.

Qualifications

· Must be a certified Athletic Trainer, by either the National Athletic Trainers’ Association or equivalent State Certification.
· Bachelor’s Degree
· Must have a valid card evidencing successful completion of a CPR course at the Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider level (American Heart Association) or Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross)
· Associate will be required to maintain all medical credentials
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office

· Experience in an occupational setting.
· Certified to Teach First Aid, CPR, AED training.
· Experience with an industrial wellness program.
