Industrial Hygienist (IH)

Industrial Hygienist (IH) / Environmental Scientist Consultant

Key Responsibilities
CTSI is seeking an Industrial Hygienist (IH) or Environmental Technician. This position can be located in North or Central Florida. The selected candidate must possess a thorough knowledge of Federal, State, and local Environmental and safety laws and regulations. The industrial hygienist or environmental scientist performs site and IAQ assessments on commercial, industrial, and educational facilities regarding potential environmental contaminants.

The majority of the work will involve indoor air quality (IAQ), industrial hygiene, mold, asbestos and lead assessments. Projects might involve some OSHA safety and health compliance related issues.

Qualifications 

  • Minimum B.S. in Environmental Science, Engineering, or any science-related major
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • 2-3 years or more related experience
  • Florida Mold inspector license

 

Desirable Qualifications

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or been able to obtain within 12 months period
  • Florida asbestos inspector license 

  

  • Licenses: a valid Florida driver’s license is required
  • Experience: broad industrial hygiene experience, some of which must be within the construction industry, additional training will be provided as needed
  • Communication: excellent written and verbal communication skills, outstanding interpersonal skills, and the ability to convey technical information to clients and other stakeholders
  • Regulatory: possess a broad and intimate knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements
  • Computer/Technical: must be proficient in Excel and Word
  • Collaboration: must be both independent and team-oriented and able to work effectively with clients and piers
  • Physical Demands: work is often performed in hot, contaminated environments; successful candidates must be able to carry a ladder (oftentimes long distances), climb ladders, and work in hot environments
  • PPE requirements: must be able to pass a medical exam to wear a respirator, and must be clean shaven to wear a respirator
  • Travel: most projects are in the state of Florida; travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected; travel across Florida and few overnights may be required
