Provide superior health and safety services, adhering to Chubb Global Risk Advisors standard operating protocols and client specific scope of service.  This opportunity consists of onsite support at a client site in Englewood, New Jersey, five days a week, M-F, for a minimum of three months.

We are seeking a health and safety professional with 1-5 years' experience in Englewood, New Jersey.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the health and safety consultant must facilitate and assist in the identification, evaluation and control of safety and environmental risks at the location.  He/she must also provide, assist and/or facilitate skills building and training of both leadership and plant employees.

Job Duties and Experience Required: 

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety, food safety, environmental, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Help facilitate and execute skills building programs as required.
  • Coordinate, interpret and ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws/regulations.  Have a    working knowledge of laws/regulations and implementation/impact at a plant setting.
  • Assist with conducting industrial hygiene monitoring for the facility.
  • Assist in auditing/inspecting, measuring and developing action plans regarding Health and Safety plant status and progress.
  • Follow all safety and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Adhere to and enforce GMP and HACCP requirements.
  • Serve as an active member of the plant’s Safety Committee.
  • Review new/modified equipment/processes for Health and Safety purposes, as needed.
  • Attend daily production/quality meetings.
  • Develop and maintain safety and environmental policies for the plant.
  • Attend scheduled safety and GMP meetings.
  • Conduct new hire training and orientation.
  • Investigate safety related incidents.
  • Provide weekly tool box training topics.
  • Provide safety training to contractors.
  • Conduct/administer monthly safety training.
  • Complete all associated paperwork/reports. 

Education and Certificates Required:

  • BS in industrial hygiene, safety, or environmental science is preferred; or relevant experience. 

1-5 years of experience in a manufacturingenvironment   

Skills and Competencies:  

  • Problem solving to enable the development and execution of cost effective solutions to minimize/eliminate risk.
  • Creativity to enable theu se of tools, resources, programs, processes and solutions as required.
  • Presentation skills to enable effective training and communication to all levels of the organization.
  • Written and oral communication skills to enable the use of multiple communication media (workbooks, presentations, reports, etc.) as needed.
  • Change management skills are important to drive and sustain improvement in a fast-paced and changingwork environment.

Equipment and Software Skills and Competencies:
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Power Point; proficient in navigating OSHA, EPA and other key Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations/web sites.

Must be able to conduct plant walkthroughs and inspections/audits up to 4 hours at a time, to include walking and climbing up/down stairs and ladders (portable, fixed).

Must have the appropriate level of sensory acuity (visual, hearing, speaking, smell and touch) to be able to identify and react to normal, abnormal and alarm conditions (chemicals, temperature, etc.).
