Description

EXEMPT. This position is suited for safety professionals who can support short and long term construction, demolition and remediation projects located throughout the United States with minimum notification.

Responsibilities: The ESHP will report to the ESHQ Director and be responsible for developing and implementing project specific Accident Prevention Plans, HSPs, procedures, and hazards analyses. The ESHP will be responsible for the evaluation of project documentation and work practices to identify hazards and controls and verify the adequacy of those controls as work proceeds. 

The ESHP will evaluate work practices, controls, and corrective actions for effectiveness and compliance.  The ESHP will provide technical support in the application of regulatory requirements, procedures and standards for health and safety.  The ESHP will work with the Project Manager to ensure work is executed safely and compliantly. 

The ESHP will be responsible for operating and maintaining IH instrumentation in a manner that confirms operations are being performed safely and data generated is defensible. The ESHP will conduct daily safety topics and ensure project staff is trained and qualified to perform the assigned scope of work. The ESHP will conduct safety site inspections and assessments according to requirements stated in the HS Plan.

The ESHP will be responsible for assuring personnel are properly trained in accordance with approved work plans and activity specific hazards analyses. The ESHP will be responsible for the evaluation of project documentation and work practices to identify hazards and controls and verify the adequacy of those controls as work proceeds. The ESHP will ensure employees are empowered to stop work when unsafe conditions exist. The ESHP will be responsible for collecting and managing all HS records generated during project execution. 

Requirements

General Experience: Should have a considerable knowledge of implementing ES&H Programs, work-specific HS Plans (HSP), Hazard Communication Programs, a Hazardous Materials Information System (HMIS), and AHA programs; should have experience in conducting incident/accident investigation and understand how to identify causal factors; should have experience in integrating QA/QC concepts into operational activities.  Extensive experience with USACE and DOE projects is required.

Education: Bachelor's degree in safety engineering or industrial hygiene or an equivalent technical field.        

Qualifications: Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene, or Certified Safety Professional (CSP), equivalent nationally recognized organization is preferred.  Current certification in CPR and First Aid.

Field Experience: Shall have at least five(5) years of full-time work experience in the field of environment, safety, and health; A minimum of 40 hours of formal environmental training in erosion control, waste management, or other environmental discipline, or pre-approved equivalent having other environment related training and/or job experience;
