Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager

The Health, Safety, & Environment Manager is a strategic partner and champion of all health and safety programs company-wide. This position is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring compliance of Lundberg Family Farms Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures, ensuring all system elements meet or exceed applicable federal, state, and local OSHA/EPA regulations. The person occupying this position is expected to exemplify the company’s core values, and lead by example.  The HSE Manager will also develop, implement, and maintain an accredited HSE management system. This role is also responsible for managing and overseeing facility security. The HSE Manager will interface directly with department leadership in all Areas of Focus. As a result of this person’s efforts, Lundberg Family Farms will have world class health, safety, and environmental programs.

Some of the Essential Functions and Responsibilities include:
HSE Program Management:

  • Develop and implement Lundberg Family Farms HSE system policies and procedures, ensuring all program elements meet or exceed applicable federal, state, and local OSHA/EPA regulations
  • Lead company-wide implementation and maintenance of an accredited safety system, such as ANSI Z10 or Voluntary Protection Program  
  • Ensure compliance with Lundberg Family Farms HSE policies and procedures through routine, comprehensive, and collaborative auditing, verification, and validating activities.
  • Issue monthly reports on health, safety, and environment system compliance and performance metrics
  • Ensure routine hazard analysis/risk assessments are conducted. Assist in identification and implementation of effective physical and/or behavioral control measures. Ensure validation of implementation and verification of the effectiveness of in-place control measures.
  • Exercise a leadership, coordination, and communication role with all department leadership to drive continuous improvement in HSE system verification, validation, and recordkeeping systems to ensure compliance with all Lundberg Family Farms policies and regulatory requirements.

Security and Environment:

  • Coordinate with department management to implement necessary policies and procedures to ensure site security needs are met
  • Coordinates hazardous materials response procedures, training and documentation. Facilitates coordination with local, state, and national response teams as needed
  • Coordinates the inspection and monitoring of all fire protection systems to ensure they are maintained and operated in compliance with company standards, and insurance carrier recommendations.
  • Monitors, updates, and continuously improves Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and First Responder Program

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in occupational health, safety, or a related field with
  • A minimum of five years of work experience in Health, Safety and Environment Systems
  • Experience with implementing and/or managing HSE Management systems (ANSI –Z10 or VPP)
  • Experience in Health Safety and Environment auditing
