We are currently looking for an experienced EH&S professional to join our team. 

Job Responsibilities:
Successful candidate shall demonstrate the ability to complete assignments in an efficient manner requiring full use and application of Health and Safety knowledge. Scope of work includes wide range of problems requiring originality and ingenuity. Position works with minimal supervision and may be assigned to special projects or tasks as needed. Position will be expected to provide coaching and guidance to terminal and shop operations.  

This position will be responsible for managing Health and Safety processes at all company owned terminals, shops, and rail transfer facilities as well as helping to protect the company’s interests at partner facilities.  Additionally the incumbent will work to support and drive the creation of a strong culture that engages employees in the achievement of the company’s target of zero incidents.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Provide guidance and direction to terminal-level management and personnel on occupational safety, industrial hygiene, and other health & safety issues. 
  • Participate in change management processes and process hazard analyses to identify health & safety issues / opportunities
  • Identify action-based H&S goals for terminal leadership team members to support achievement of targets and objectives
  • Take the lead in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and action item completion.  Complete items as assigned
  • Oversee the industrial hygiene program, including performing sampling as needed.
  • Develop and periodically review site procedures relating maintenance shops and rail transfer safety
  • Conduct periodic site inspections, compliance audits, and assist internal audit team as needed
  • Develop emergency response plans for the all rail transfer facilities
  • Provide content for site-specific training programs and conduct training as necessary
  • Provide content for monthly safety meeting topics and conduct webinars with field leadership and personnel
  • Assist in designing programs to control, eliminate and prevent disease or injury
  • Evaluate patterns in injury data and develop
  • Develop and/or provide training on new regulations affecting shops and rail transfer operations
  • Assist with annual management system surveillance and certification audits


  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical engineering or science discipline; other Bachelor’s degrees considered if candidate has significant relevant experience
  • Certification as an Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Associate Industrial Hygienist (CAIH), or demonstrated progress toward such certifications is desirable.


  • Must have 2-5 years of H&S experience, either as an H&S professional or in a role requiring detailed knowledge of H&S requirements.
  • Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis is required  


  • Working Knowledge in regulatory and technical aspects of Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene & Emergency Response Management, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act  is required.
  • Experience in shop safety, rail safety and transportation regulations is desired
  • Working knowledge of cross-functional H&S disciplines
  • Ability to lead and support cross-functional process improvement teams
  • Ability to act as a change agent. Effective in enabling and driving change
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with clarity, impact and passion
  • Ability to conduct  behavior-based safety observations
