As the Environmental Specialist you will be responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and maintaining compliance with all regulations for our manufacturing location. The position will be the primary lead in implementing, maintaining and supporting the plant's environmental programs. 

  • Analyze environmental or safety conditions and recommend changes to prevent or eliminate dangerous situations, substances or materials
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agency policies, including government legislation
  • Develop, design and operate highly technical gauging equipment to determine the amounts of toxic pollutants present in air, land and water to ensure compliance with regulatory agency policies
  • Develop competence by performing structured work assignments
  • Solve a range of straightforward problems and analyze possible solutions using standard procedures
  • Receive moderate level of guidance and direction from others
  • Build knowledge of the organization, processes and customers
  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2-5 years of work experience as an industrial environmental specialist (knowledge and exposure to the fundamentals of environmental theories, principles and concepts)
  • Presentation skills (ability to train 5-30 people using or developing PowerPoint)
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to deal respectfully and properly with employees, regulators, and the public
  • Ability to travel up to 5%
  • Ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to and including 25 pounds as well as be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc.

Demonstrated knowledge of local/state/federal regulations including but not limited to:

  • Clean Air Act (CAA) -- Title V and Air Emissions
  • Clean Water Act (CWA)
  • Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) -- Hazardous Waste
  • Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC)
  • Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)
  • Storm Water Pollution Prevention (SWPP)
  • National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants(NESHAP)
