Environmental Specialist - OREGON

This position is located in OREGON. 

Founded in 1936, Roseburg Forest Products is a privately owned company and one of North America's leading producers of particleboard, medium density fiberboard and thermally fused laminates. Roseburg also manufactures softwood and hardwood plywood, lumber, LVL and I-joists. The company owns and sustainably manages more than 600,000 acres of timberland in Oregon, North Carolina and Virginia, as well as an export wood chip terminal facility in Coos Bay, OR. Roseburg products are shipped throughout North America and the Pacific Rim.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to Roseburg facility Environmental Managers
  • Developing and compiling reports
  • Updating and delivering employee training programs relating to all environmental media
  • Provide support for the continuous improvement of the plant EMS programs
  • Perform related field work as required
  • Conduct annual comprehensive audits of all facilities
  • Submit clear and concise written reports based on field inspections
  • Recommend and coordinate the development of programs needed by facilities to comply with various environmental regulations
  • Performing other duties as assigned
  • See attached list of priorities

Required Qualifications:

  • Education qualifications include a minimum of a B.A. or B.S. in Environmental, Engineering, Math, Science or related field
  • Must be able to successfully and timely complete and review projects and reports
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, with unexpected interruptions, and maintain a time line for completion of the projects
  • Governmental Regulators have strict requirements associated with their reporting; reports must be accurately completed and turned in on time
  • Have a working knowledge of environmental regulations, and an ability to understand and apply government regulations related to environmental compliance
  • Have attention to detail, ability to work well with all levels of personnel at Roseburg
  • Be willing to travel


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior environmental management or permitting experience
  • Microsoft office products
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
