Environmental Specialist - Air


  • Determine and conduct tasks necessary to maintain site compliance with air permits and air regulatory requirements.
  • Complete air permit applications, including: Permit By Rule and Minor Source air permits.
  • Identify and summarize emerging air regulatory issues to assure timely implementation and maximum operational flexibility.
  • Perform initial emissions calculations and maintain rolling emissions calculations.
  • Work with external consultants to perform modeling analysis and other tasks as needed.
  • Correspond with regulatory agencies.
  • Track key air compliance metrics and implement systems to improve performance. 
  • Participate in the evaluation of air pollution control technologies, including economic and technical feasibility of air pollution control equipment.
  • Review new construction projects and process changes to determine applicable permitting and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and submit reports to federal, state and local agencies, including Annual Emission Inventories and Greenhouse Gas Reporting.
  • Conduct comprehensive compliance audits of facilities and work with Operations to correct any noted deficiencies.
  • Maintain permitting and regulatory requirements in company Compliance Action Tracking System.
  • Assist with other activities as needed.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (4 year college or university).
  • 7-10 years related experience preferred
  • Experience with Oil and Gas industry 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to multi-task under tight schedule constraints.
  • Strong computer skills, including solid spreadsheet and word processing skills. Strong familiarity with developing and maintaining spreadsheets and/or databases to calculate and track emissions.
  • Strong analytical abilities.
  • Willingness to travel at least 20%.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local air quality permitting programs and related regulations in the Gulf Coast Region and offshore Gulf of Mexico. Must have the ability to read and interpret environmental regulations.
