Environmental Health & Safety Manager

Environmental Health & Safety Manager for Total Waste Management (TWM) Contracts to ensure work practices in all activities conducted at various locations. Focus on monitoring and improving safety standards at each facility as well as perform risk assessments, job safety and appropriate training. Conduct environmental compliance and regulatory reviews to confirm adequate systems are in place.  


  • Perform risk assessments, job safety, assessments, industrial hygiene, monitoring, and SDS control to ensure employee safety.
  • Conduct training for employees on company safety policies, practices, and programs including onboarding plan for all new MSG employees.
  • Administer and oversee Medical Surveillance Program including corporate drug and alcohol programs.
  • Ensure workers have access to and are using proper PPE Document findings at each jobsite, log them electronically, and distribute the findings.
  • Develop, implement, and provide training on safety programs and SOPs.
  • Develop and maintain expertise on federal and state  OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
  • Work closely and cooperatively with FIS-MSG Project Managers, Program Managers and Management team to accomplish shared goals.
  • Manage Safety 360 Program Complete customer audit and safety information packets Maintain ISNetworld, PICS, and equivalent for all MSG contracts Audit 3rd party TSDF’s for approval as required in EHS-OP-008
  • ALL  Disposal Vendor Audit Program Develop a site visit schedule to be approved by General Manager.
  • Adhere to schedule throughout the year.
  • Assist all MSG employees with proper NCR reporting, researching and identifying a solution and formalizing a resolution.  
  • Serve as a safety and technical resource throughout the business unit.
  • Work in a constructive, positive manner with a wide range of personalities and across management and organizational boundaries.
  • Performs other, related duties as assigned. These are duties which may not be specifically listed in the class specification or position description, but which are within the general occupational series and responsibility level typically associated with the employee’s class of work.

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

To perform the duties of this job, the employee must have good interpersonal skills; be patient and tactful; display an enthusiastic, cooperative and friendly attitude at all times with managers/supervisors, co-workers, visitors, customers and clients.


  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred.
  • At least five to seven years in a health and safety role. 
  • Demonstrated broad knowledge of safety regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to deal with unstructured problems that require defensible decisions on complex safety and regulatory matters.
  • Performance of other duties and responsibilities as required by management.

While performing this job, the employee is responsible for continuous adherence to the Company’s Health & Safety Program. This includes: the health and safety of themselves and their coworkers, completing tasks in a safe manner, attending safety meetings and mandatory H&S training, and reporting any unsafe conditions, acts or unanticipated hazards to their Supervisor, General Manager or Health and Safety Specialist.  Duties and responsibilities are detailed in the H&S Program Master Document and will be provided by the H&S Specialist and/or the direct supervisor during new-hire orientation, training sessions or upon request.  

Employees are required to report any concerns associated with environmental compliance to their supervisor, General Manager or Environmental Manager. Employees are also required to complete training in hazardous waste management procedures, emergency response and other topics as outlined in the facility’s training program and/or an individual training matrix.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds for movement of supplies or containers. The employee is required to wear Personal Protective Equipment as necessary. Use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.  

The work is typically performed in an outdoor environment and will require the ability to enter into transport vehicles. In the course of advising or counseling managers, supervisors, and employees, the individual may encounter aggressive or unpredictable behavior.
