Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Supervisor

Eaton’s Crouse-Hinds Division is seeking an EHS Supervisor. The EHS Supervisor will be based at our Houston, TX facility.

Position Overview:
This position provides environmental, health, safety, and security leadership to Eaton experience center, ICI, MEDC/HAC, Tech center group, and South Houston. This position is accountable for: directing the maintenance and EHS activities at his/her location(s); establishing EHS objectives and targets; internal reporting of EHS performance; communication of national and local regulatory requirements and creating a strong EHS culture that engages employees throughout the site in EHS teams and processes.
 
Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manages and directs site in achieving EHS targets & objectives. 
  • Supports creation of EHS goals for the site manager and appropriate activity based goals for the leadership team, functional managers, and front-line supervisors to drive EHS culture, compliance, and results.
  • Leads injury and illness investigations using A3 problem solving to capture lessons learned and implement corrective, preventive measures to avoid future injuries.
  • Facilitates risk assessments to identify critical EHS hazards and aspects by working with the leadership team to create targets and objectives based on key EHS risks.
  • Maintains site ISO/OHSAS certifications and assures accurate and complete EHS reporting of metrics.
  • Closes all cases in MESH, ISO 14001 and regulatory agency findings on a timely basis.
  • Completes required training for EHS personnel; managing interfaces with the public and governmental authorities with adverse findings and enforcement actions.
  • Determines appropriate leading and lagging indicators to track performance against targets and objectives.
  • Works to assign and develop MESH element champions and facilitate their engagement in ownership of the MESH elements.
  • Drives and promotes Zero Incident Safety Culture throughout site(s).
  • Facilitates creative, fun ways of employee engagement through EHS teams and committees to accomplish the established targets and objectives for the year.
  • Works with leadership team and MESH element champions to complete an annual evaluation of compliance for EHS country, state, and local regulations. 
  • Pursues third party recognition for programs that establish the site and Eaton’s EHS program as world class.
  • Uses established EHS data processes such as MESH Prism to enter and manage data such as injuries and illnesses, environmental metrics, risk assessments, EHS action items and other pertinent information.
  • Create training matrices to ensure that all training is defined and tracked to completion.
  • Work with site leadership team and facilities to ensure that all key EHS operational controls are in place, on a PM program, and that EHS action items are resolved on a timely basis.
  • Implement Eaton Emergency Response program including necessary spill criteria and training if required or use of outside resources, directs actions during crises and site security.
  • Manage Environmental programs including Universal waste, Storm water, waste water and obtain necessary RCRA and DOT certifications. Complete Annual government reports including TRI and Tier II.
  • Manage facilities and maintenance issues, including utilities and fire protection.
  • Flexible to engage in and execute other assigned projects that are not necessarily EHS activities such as, capital implementation, training of employees in key equipment, site action tracker management, manufacturing process improvement, etc.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of environmental, health and safety experience (or a combination of these functions). 
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • No relocation offered. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of our Houston, TX facility to be considered.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Safety & Health or Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years of environmental, health and safety experience (or a combination of these functions). 
  • Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager.
  • Experience in general maintenance.
