Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist

The EHS Specialist will perform functions as needed to support the ERI environmental, health & safety consulting divisions, with an emphasis in the environmental division. 

Provide technical and administrative assistance as well as individually perform services such as, but not limited to:

  • Tier II reporting
  • Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) reporting
  • Annual Emission Inventory reporting
  • GHG Reporting
  • Site specific regulatory compliance assessment performance and reporting
  • EH&S specific training presentation development, improvement, implementation
  • Risk Management Plan (RMP) development and submission
  • Spill Prevention, Countermeasure, and Control (SPCC) Plan and Facility Response Plan (FRP) development and modification
  • Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) development and modification
  • Above-ground Storage Tank (AST) permits and applications submission/modification
  • Air permitting application development

Support Senior Staff on compliance and consultative related tasks and projects that may include the following programs:

  • Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), RCRA, and TSCA regulatory programs.
  • State-specific regulatory support.
  • Carbon and Sustainability-related projects.
  • Assist Company management with projects as needed to maintain the Company’s proprietary EHS programs as the industry standard.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical, environmental, engineering, or safety & health field is preferred.
  • Requires certificate in OSHA’s 30 Hour General Industry Course and 30 Hour Construction Course within the first 2 years.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Zero to one year of experience in EHS is preferred, including knowledge and exposure to EPA, OSHA and NFPA standards as they apply to operating industrial facilities and construction sites. 


  • Shall be able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Shall be proficient in the spoken and written English language.
  • Shall be familiar with EPA (CAA, CWA, TSCA, EPCRA, RCRA, etc.), OSHA and other pertinent standards (NFPA, DOT, ANSI, CGA, ASTM, ASME, NIOSH, etc.)
  • Shall be proficient with using personal computers, spreadsheets, word processors, electronic presentations, and other standard office equipment.
  • Shall be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Shall be comfortable speaking in public and to small groups.

Travel Requirements:

  • Position requires occasional travel (up to 50%) via car as well as commercial and private aircraft.
  • Must maintain a valid and current driver's license, current automobile liability insurance and maintain a personal vehicle for business use.
  • Must maintain fiscal responsibility that will enable the individual to travel, work and be away from home. During site visits, the work environment is dependent on the time of year, stage of construction and site geographic location.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license.

Physical Activities and Requirements of this Position:
Ability to sit for long periods of time.  Able to view computer screen for lengths at a time.  Must be able to speak and listen clearly.  Fine visual acuity to read for accuracy. Must be physically able to safely ascend to heights, be able to bend, crawl and move safely and freely around machinery and building without assistance. May be exposed to loud noises, wet and humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals, extreme hot and cold depending on weather conditions.  For more detail please review the ADA questionnaire on file in Human Resources.
