General Accountability:

The EHS Manager deploys and drives the Compact Equipment Division strategic initiatives that reduce or eliminate risk, continually improves EHS performance and reduces incidents. This role will lead the EHS programs across multiple operations in North America and one operation in India. The position supports the development, implementation, and administration of all aspects of Safety, Health, and Environmental programs within the perimeter.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor compliance with current and evolving Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations along with additional company requirements.
  • Develop, Implement, and promote Manitou processes/work instructions concerning environmental, industrial hygiene, and safety programs consistent with OSHA compliance.
  • Establish, schedule, and lead EHS audits/inspections of facilities and support corrective actions.
  • Lead and / or participate in Process Hazards Analysis activities and participate in technical review of process changes as necessary.
  • Prepares, maintains, and submits all safety and environmental reports and permits in a timely manner in accordance with Federal, State, Local EH&S regulations.
  • Oversees and coordinates all training mandated by OSHA, EPA, state or local regulatory agencies and provides continuous training for site coordinators, plant managers, manufacturing managers, and others.
  • Support the preparation and review of EHS training material.
  • Support emergency response activities through the development of required drills and coordination of annual training.
  • Work closely with site point of contact to develop, implement, and measure the success of safety programs through metric based global system.
  • Support and Deliver the preparation and review of health and safety training.
  • Coordinates maintenance of management system per ISO 9001 in our South Dakota plant.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to exposure factors concerning occupational illnesses and accidents.
  • Lead in investigation and root cause analysis for on-site incidents.
  • Conduct/direct testing of workplace air quality, noise, temperature, or radiation to verify compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate/participate on environmental agency compliance inspections.

 EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in appropriate engineering discipline (such as safety or environmental engineering, or equivalent education and experience).

 EXPERIENCE:

  • 5-10 years combined experience in safety and/or environmental roles in a manufacturing/industrial environment over multi-sites.
  • Environmental experience should include field oversight, environmental investigation, air, gas vibration, and water sampling and multi-site manufacturing sites.
  • Safety experience should include strong understanding of OSHA regulations, risk assessment & reduction, developing and administering training programs, accident investigation, and resolution.

 KNOWLEDGES:

  • Knowledge of environmental and safety compliance, permitting, incident investigation, and reporting protocols.
  • Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.
  • Skilled in supervising, evaluating, training and motivating employees. Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state (OH, AL, MS, IA, GA) safety and environmental regulations.

 INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONNECTIONS:

  • Internal: Plant managers, HR managers, manufacturing managers and engineers, EHS coordinators
  • External: Contractors, vendors, and OSHA

 LOCALIZATION AND TRAVEL EXPECTED:

  • This opportunity is located in our new and nice corporate office, walking distance from the charming historic downtown West Bend, WI, located just minutes from Milwaukee by the highway in the picturesque hills of the Kettle Moraine.
  • Travel up to 60% (50% domestic and 10% international).
