Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager

Pall Corporation is looking for a dynamic leader to serve as the EHS Manager at its Timonium, Maryland campus.   

This position is a member of the site Sr. Staff and reports to the General Manager supporting multiple manufacturing operations and a distribution center. 

Support the EHS team in the development, implementation, maintenance, monitoring and continuous improvement of Environmental Health and Safety programs, ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local Regulatory Requirements.

  • Compliance with Pall Corporation / Danaher policies and procedures.
  • Experience working in a LEAN/TPS/Kaizen/Danaher Business System (DBS), continual improvement environment and ability to apply continual improvement concepts to EHS excellence.
  • Requires focuses on leading EHS indicators to drive long term improvement goals. 
  • Ensures compliance with all state, federal and local governmental EHS regulations. This includes written programs, record keeping, reports, inspections, monitoring, testing, training and medical surveillance per guidelines. Maintain compliance with air and water permits. Perform required inspections and audits per permit requirements.
  • Manages and maintains ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and Business Continuity Management System.
  • Directs, develops and delivers environmental health and safety training programs to ensure employee’s knowledge, understanding and adherence to safety and environmental regulations pertaining to the operation of the facility.
  • Develops and executes actions to reduce and sustain EHS risk assessment score(s). 
  • Manages EHS management programs including cost control/reduction and accident prevention/reduction, and business continuity.
  • Develops, implements and coordinates all Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomic activities 
  • Manages non-hazardous, hazardous, and universal waste disposal and minimization activity.
  • Develops, implements and coordinates all Fire Prevention/Protection programs coordinating with FM Global. This includes all required training, recordkeeping, monitoring and reporting programs and results.
  • Track, approve, and maintain chemical inventories for global harmonization / haz-com and Safety Data Sheet online system updates.
  • Ensures all EHS issues identified during internal/external audits and Safety Committee audits are resolved.
  • Facilitate and lead Plant Safety and sub-team committees. This includes providing support with incident investigations and 5-Why Tree/Root Cause Analysis and application of corrective action.
  • Coordinates with site Human Resources Manager in the administration of Worker’s Compensation and Early Return to Work Program.
  • Some Travel Required 

 Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Sustainability, or other engineering or science focused field is required.
  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues.
  • Ability to work weekends, off-shifts, and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Five (5) years of experience leading high performance site level EH&S program required.
  • Associate/Certified Safety Professional (ASP/CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or other EHS related certification preferred.
  • Experience in managing/handling compliance issues, permitting, manufacturing operations, OSHA/EPA programs, regulatory reviews, permit preparation, reporting and record keeping.
  • Experience in evaluating/interpreting MOSH/OSHA, MDE/EPA, DOT and Maryland state regulations and NFPA, ANSI, ASTM standards.
  • Experience with Federal, Maryland. and local Worker’s Compensation law and prior experience establishing proactive Ergonomics Program.
  • Microsoft Office ™ skills to include the ability to create and generate spreadsheet, presentations, reports, graphs, and other intermediate functions.
  • Experience with GENSUITE ™ or other HSE data management system experience preferred
  • Strong communication, leadership, presentation, training, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • ISO14001 - LEAD Auditor trained
  • RCRA – Hazardous Waste Management Training
  • DOT – Hazmat Ground Shipper Certification Training
