Environmental Health & Safety Manager

 

Responsible for developing and implementing programs and policies that enable the overall safety and health of employees while ensuring compliant business operations for all manufacturing facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all environmental, health & safety programs to assure compliance with all applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations.
  • Manage environmental permits, certifications and registrations (NPDES, Stormwater, Air, Wastewater, Hazardous Waste etc.)
  • Lead and coordinate Safety, Environmental and Risk Management activities
  • Write and update required programs including: Haz Com, Hearing Conservation, Powered Industrial Truck, Machine Guarding, Emergency Action, Bloodborne Pathogen, Crane, Respiratory Protection, PPE
  • Develop and report safety and environmental metrics
  • Conduct audits and implement action plans.
  • Ensures that EHS policies and procedures are enforced and oversees development and execution of new policies and programs.
  • Manage all aspects of workers compensation program
  • Oversee contracted security program
  • Champion waste reduction initiatives

Education and/or Experience: 
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in the marine industry a plus.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing/handling compliance issues, permitting for all media, manufacturing operations, OSHA/EPA programs, regulatory reviews, permit preparation, reporting and record keeping.
  • Experience in evaluating/interpreting OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations and NFPA, ANSI, standards.
  • Knowledgeable of Title V Air permits
  • Experience with Federal, state and local Worker’s Compensation law
  • Strong communication, leadership, training, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be able to influence and motivate employees, enforce company safety policies and procedures, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a collaborative team setting.
  • Must be available to respond to any emergency situations related to employee and property safety.
  • Proficient user in Microsoft Office Suite.
