Cushman & Wakefield is currently seeking a Manager, Environmental Health, Safety (EHS) for its Global Occupier Services (GOS) platform. This role will support a corporate account and will be based in Bethpage, New York.  Reporting to the Account Director with a dotted Line GOS EHS Managing Director; the selected candidate will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals with opportunities to grow professionally.

The Manager, Environmental Health, Safety (EHS) will partner with senior account leadership to ensure GOS EHS regulatory requirements, client compliance programs, policies and initiatives are fulfilled and integrated into C&W account operations. In addition, the role is accountable for collaborating with the client, developing, implementing and maintaining effective compliance based processes for the client.   


  • Applies EHS practices to develop, implement and manage EHS processes and procedures.  Develops best practices to drive and create a best in class EHS culture.
  • Knowledge of and familiar with national Consensus standards; NFPA, NEC, BOCA, ASTM, ISO, ANSI, IEEE, UL
  • Responsible for monitoring federal, state, regional, and local safety and environmental regulations for impact and effective application for C&W and the client. Develops plans and implementation strategies and recommends these to C&W and Client management teams
  • Collaborates with the client & Account leaders to ensure all EH&S compliance requirements and obligations are implemented and met
  • Partners with the client EHS organization to ensure compliance with applicable standards
  • Organizes and administers EHS programs for all C&W employees and are in conformance with the client’s applicable workplace compliance standards. 
  • Oversees Universal and Hazardous Waste Management Programs.
  • Collaborates with the client to ensure all local, state and federal regulatory requirements are implemented in accordance with the clients existing programs and to work towards continuous improvement with the management of the same. 
  • Reviews, updates, and/or develops and implements safety and environmental policies and programs as required. Coordinates with site property and facility managers
  • Conducts site needs assessments to determine impact to C&W staff and develops initial site safety and quality plans and programs, in cooperation with property and facility management and others as designated by C&W and the client
  • Investigates accidents in conjunction with facilities personnel. Maintains and reports on projectwide workers’ compensation cases. Maintains compliance with OSHA 300 reporting
  • Analyzes project and facilities accident statistics and makes recommendations for correction of problem areas. Establishes target areas based on long-range accident prevention and cost control objectives
  • Assesses energy efficiency, pollution/emission controls and remediation efforts, “green” technologies and their application, waste disposal and management, and related environmental aspects of the clients’ facilities and makes recommendations
  • Provides leadership to achieve the EHS vision in partnering with account management.
  • Identifies risk associated with the management of Cushman & Wakefield contractors.
  • Investigates incidents in conjunction with Cushman & Wakefield personnel. 
  • Implements Cushman & Wakefield and EHS Corporate processes and systems. 
  • Serves as a technical advisor and facilitator for assigned accounts. 
  • Supports the Cushman & Wakefield EHS Learning Management System.
  • Communicates and supports client’s EHS policies & vision and performance to internal stakeholders.


  • Bachelor of Science degree is required.  Specialization in Occupational Safety and Health, or Environmental Health, Environmental Sciences or Management is preferred.  
  • Minimum of 10 years’ of experience in developing and implementing EHS programs.
  • Strong communication skills and collaborates with others.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently to find solutions.
  • Ability to apply broad work experience and knowledge when analyzing problems.
  • Demonstrated leadership, influencing and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Broad knowledge of Environmental, Occupational Health, and regulations (OSHA/EPA/NFPA). This includes knowledge of hazardous waste regulations, pollutants and emissions, industrial hygiene, safety training, protective clothing and equipment, fire regulations and codes, etc.
  • Ability to use and leverage standard office systems such as Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, necessary to support EHS.
  • Ability to travel, as needed.
  • Candidates with Professional Certifications (CSP, CIH, CHMM, etc.) are highly desirable.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to travel from floor to floor and may be required to travel outside between buildings in varying outdoor weather conditions
  • The employee may also be regularly required to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Regularly use hands to operate office machinery including, but not limited to, telephones, computers, fax, and photocopy machines
  • Regularly required to walk, talk, and hear
