Johns Manville is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Environmental, Health, and Safely (EHS) Manager at the Penbryn, NJ plant. The EH&S Manager's focus is to ensure effective management of EHS systems while maintaining a safe workplace and compliance with applicable health, safety and environmental regulations. This position reports to the Plant Manager and will be part of the plant management team.

Responsibilities:

  • With a staff of three salary direct reports, the EHS Manager ensures the facility is operating in compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations and requirements as codified in state and federal OSHA regulations or otherwise referenced (typically through a site audit, gap analysis, and closure process)
  • Represent the company with local, state, and federal agencies as required and interface with the general public on environmental issues and promote the company's environmental initiatives public hearings, meetings.
  • Develop action plans for EHS activities, perform follow-up on these activities, and report status to division EHS leaders.
  • Act as a regulatory compliance resource.
  • Represent the company with state and federal agencies as required.
  • Assist with case management.
  • Behavioral Based Safety, Injury Case Management, OSHA 300 Log, Emergency Preparedness and Response, Environmental Permit Compliance and Industrial Hygiene across the Cleburne plant.
  • Establish and drive continuous improvement in the facilities environmental monitoring and recordkeeping data management systems to ensure compliance with all JM policies and federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure the proper onsite management and offsite disposal of solid, universal, and hazardous wastes and lead a plant-wide effort to eliminate these by correcting the root causes and/or reducing wastes, reusing, and recycling various materials.
  • Assist JM Corporate Environmental to evaluate and determine appropriate permitting and abatement strategies for projects that may have an impact on existing air quality permits with an emphasis on NESHAP, NSPS, NSR/PSD, and USEPA/CARB/GCAPCD regulatory requirements.
  • Supports and promotes safe practices and environmental commitments in alignment with company commitments, policies, and compliance requirements.
  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of management experience, including experience leading and managing small teams to include coaching and mentoring
  • Minimum of 5 years of working in environmental, health and safety in a manufacturing environment
  • Experienced in preparing and implementing EH&S programs and managing for desired outcomes.
  • Experience working cross functionally and achieving results through influence.
  • Experience with Title V, NESHAPs, and state air regulations
  • Solid knowledge of safety and environmental laws and regulations relating to air, water, solid waste and hazardous waste management.
  • Managed both environmental and safety programs.
  • Experience in hazard awareness and risk assessment.
  • Experience with behavioral based safety systems.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Ability to be on call. This plant operates 24/7 365.
  • Ability climb stairs/ladders, walk extensively, exposure to hot and cold.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Heavy industry and/or manufacturing experience.
  • SAP experience.
  • DuPont STOP experience.
