Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Director

Baron Environmental Associates currently has positions available that represent opportunities for ongoing professional growth and advancement through a wide-variety of environmental, health & safety and engineering project work.

Baron's core focus is to reduce or streamline the burdensome regulatory requirements for our clients and to make any environmental, health & safety program easier to implement, improve, and sustain. Our consulting team distinguishes itself from other firms by using agile methodologies within a Scrum process framework, taking ownership and solving problems as if they were our own.

Projects and areas of company expertise include: environmental, health & safety compliance; environmental, health & safety auditing; hazardous materials and waste; stormwater/wastewater permitting and reporting; air quality management; spill prevention planning; health & safety programs and employee training; industrial hygiene; agency negotiation; AST and UST compliance and integrity testing; remediation project oversight; product regulatory (SDS authoring and TSCA compliance).

Submission Details, Skills, & Experience:

  • MUST currently live within close distance to New Providence, NJ (commute of 60-min or less).
  • 10 years of experience working with New Jersey environmental compliance regulations plus 10 years of experience working with OSHA health & safety programs.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams -- capitalizing on individual/team member strengths for successful projects using Scrum or other agile framework.
  • Proven EHS auditing experience.
  • Experience negotiating with OSHA & NJDEP (Division of Water Quality, Bureau of Stationary Sources/Air Quality, Division of Pesticides, Waste and UST Enforcement).‬‬‬‬‬‬
  • Safety certifications such as CSP, CET, or CIH are preferred.‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ 

MUST provide all three (3) items to be considered:

MUST currently have one (1) of the following:

  • An ABET accredited degree in Engineering. (Environmental, Chemical, Civil, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering);
  • A current CIH certification; or
  • A current CSP certification

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • ‪Effectively manage multiple EHS projects (preferably someone that has managed projects using a Scrum process framework or using agile methodologies).
  • ‪Supervise project teams and review/oversee junior-level engineer EHS project work.
  • ‪Maintain a balance, focusing on technical work and company profitability.
  • ‪Prepare client proposals.
  • ‪Audit sites for EHS compliance as the lead auditor.
  • ‪Prepare and present training courses (5 to 100 people per class) on a regular basis in all areas of EHS in English (and Spanish, if bilingual).
  • ‪Conduct EHS compliance assessments, permitting, and reporting.
  • ‪Develop and assist in the implementation of site-specific EHS policies and procedures.
  • ‪Calculate environmental releases (air emissions, water discharges, hazardous waste, etc), assess control technologies, document information in accordance with regulations.
